Post match: Liverpool v Chelsea (EPL 9/5/26 12.30pm)

I mentioned it at the time. Utterly disgraceful in general how little our midfield wants the ball but at that stage of the game it´s pathetic.

They should be screaming for it and wanting to go make something happen.

Slot’s post match comments area combination of ridiculous and bizzare. And then there’s Gravenberch’s remark that in effect blamed the crowd for the team’s lack of intensity. He’s another one that can fuck off along with Slot, Gakpo and MacAllister.

Slot’s English ability seems to be deteriorating which indicates how much stress he’s under right now. Even so, if he thinks that some of the crowd booed just because we didn’t win then he’s either stupid or blind and deaf to criticism.

How about explaining why “we are not able to show the fans something else”, eh Arne?

Not for the first time this season, there were loud boos at full-time even though Liverpool had not lost the game. Discontent online is one thing, but it is becoming clearer that even the match-going fans are getting frustrated.

“That’s probably got something to do with us not winning,” Slot told TNT Sports. “It completely makes sense people are disappointed if Liverpool don’t win.”

Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch added: "To be honest, we need them behind us. OK, we didn’t win, but I don’t really think we deserved this [reaction].

“The fans have to be behind us for the full 90 minutes because when they were behind us in the second half, we were pressing really well. We need them. Hopefully they wouldn’t do it again in the next two games.”

Asked later in his post-match news conference how the boos felt, Slot struggled to find the right words in English but said: "I would love to show them [the fans] something else, but at this moment we are not able to.

“We are able to be a dominant team and have more of the ball and I want to give them much more to be positive about and happy about, and I am 100% sure the team wants the same.”

was it that bad?

Sure a bunch of empty seats would make FSG sit up and take notice, did for H&G!

Haven’t watched it yet, after reading that, and the other comments, hard to see the point!

they can..if they want to crash and burn!

Then how do you explain being bested by Carrick Amorim and held to draws to Frank and some guy who can only be interim coach now???

Was his brain cell!

I really have to disagree with this about Dom. He’s one of the reasons why our midfield ends up wide open. There’s nothing in all his running that helps the team. You can even feel his frustration at how useless he is running around like an idiot.

Why didn’t you mention Jones and his efforts in the second half?
Much more productive contribution both to attack and defense.
A major problem with Dom is he doesn’t create or produce anywhere near enough. Someone has to make up for Gravenberch and Macca.
Then again supplying Gakpo isn’t going to lead to much.

Anyway we look like a bunch of kids at a birthday party on a sunny day and the birthday boy received a football and goal set for the garden. Except of cause the ball doesn’t spend most of the time in the back of the net.

This idea that trotting around and sprinting at a professional player is good is nonsense. The trap needs setting and we don’t do that, even then you don’t sprint from 30 metres away.

I am hearing Henry Winter’s comments this morning. I respect his views most of the time. Today he said ’ i respect fans frustration, but Slot deserves another season’, because he won the EPL last season.
I disagree. I think Slot has lost the players as well as the supporters.

Szobo is not that great on the ball. I have always rated Elliott above him when being on the ball, other than direct shooting.

If there was a delegation of players making representations to Hughes and Edwards that Slot is clueless and they want rid, he would be gone already.

I don’t think he has lost the players at all. Why would they want him gone. They only work on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A new Busch might actually make them graft.

The question is, what would he (and his staff) do differently? If it’s more of what we have seen this season it becomes a sunk cost fallacy.

Can we have them both on the pitch at the same time please…one is the engine and one is the driver…

I think Slot has run out of tactical ideas and how to motivate the players. He has a coaching staff are average who can’t help him in a middle of a match when Slot needs to change things around. He hardly gives the academy youngsters a chance, apart from Rio, who is used very sparingly in games. It is obvious Rio is huge superstar in the making.

I think the players don’t want to make things worse but, surely they are talking to each other. As if FSG are going to listen to Virgil. I wouldn’t be surprised if Virgil left next season.

Fundamentally disagree.

Dom directly created two chances right near the Chelsea goal just by his pressing. He got the whole crowd going. Rio was the only one pressing near to his level. He nearly caught out Jorgensen twice with his pressing and on another day could have easily nicked the ball off him and scored

I didn’t mention Jones because when you look at the whole team performance what did Jones provide? Yes he passed out of defence but the ball never got past midfield. Konate still had the most time on the ball of all the players.

And Cucurella still found loads of time on Jones’ side.

I was surprised Jones got the votes he did in the poll.
Why didn’t anyone mentioned Jones trying to dribble through two players and near our box and nearly giving away a goalscoring opportunity (think they got a corner).

It is defo on the manager as he is a totally different player when he plays for his country.

Cucurella got a bit wound up by Curtis…should’ve kept at him…it could only mean a booking…or worse…
