Post Match: Liverpool v Crystal Palace (EPL 15/7/22 8pm)

True but it was the constant provoking that led up to the incident. Andersen knew precisely what he wanted from Darwin.

Just get Milly n Virg on the calm down routine…

To be fair, he deals out a lot himself too, and a couple of times before the red card incident, he was already dangerously near to putting his head into Andersen, or his fist once. That’s something he needs to stamp out asap.

That being said, Andersen made the absolute most of that situation. :joy:

You are looking through rose tinted glasses, he tried once, failed, then did it again. Was he baited? Of course but fuck me why haven’t we prepared him for the shithouses of this league?

This is a team problem, Robbo again allowed himself to get drawn into the snide of Ayew and let it affect his game. Far too many occasions we let the opponents dictate the game, we used to dominate from minute 1 to 90 imposing our game on them… Now we are 1 mistake anywhere on the pitch to a simple ball up field to conceeding… What happened to us…

We seem like a team still not recovered mentally and physically from the heart ache of last season, they need to stop feeling sorry for themselves and go back into boss mode.

As I said yesterday…if it was a ā€˜head butt’…and he fell like a bag of shit…why didn’t he go off the pitch for a concussion check…there didn’t seem to be any concern from his team mates or bench…and he kept playing…cannot have been a head butt…but Darwin…thats a no no…now all defenders will try and light the touch paper…

Or get Robbo to teach him the art of stirring the shit before others do.

Can you imagine having 2 shitstirers, one at each end of the pitch? - it would be glorious chaos

So Gomez is not at least partly responsible for Zaha’s free header at the back post, or is that solely on Trent? Who is he supposed to be defending here? Is Trent supposed to get to Zaha while being blocked off by that other CP player?

I don’t think anybody covered themselves in glory after that match. Even Diaz with his worldy was so-so across the entirety of the match. Perhaps Elliott only? But even then, a lot of energy but not much product.

A pretty depressing match really.

Just something out of interest, I don’t think Nunez’s big chance was a miss-kick. The defender basically blocked his swinging foot and its something you can see in the replay

I’d be more concerned why no-one from our team smashed into Anderson when he started this shit… Seems Nunez was left to be baited all game… Where was Milner or Van Dijk leaving one on Anderson and making it clear what happens if you start to be a shithouse with any of our players.

Or get more clever with it, like Torres was. Look like an angel while stamping on their toes or a knee into the hamstring

A headbutt is a headbutt guys, there’s no amount of force needed to be applied for it deemed not to be.

As much as I’d loved the lad to suffered a broken nose from it…

I was just thinking exactly the same thing. Milner should’ve been in Anderson’s face the first time he tried anything.

I think this is my biggest disappointment so far this season, we look like a team just going through the motions… We just seem devoid of desire, intensity or fight… I get we’ve got injuries, I get we get bad decisions against us but feeling sorry for yourself gets you nowhere. A lack of pre-season isn’t an excuse, every other team has the same.

It took us going down to 10 men and being a goal down 61 minutes in at Anfield to finally show some fight… I really hope that was the sign of change as we need it.

We started the game yesterday with unbelievable intensity. Just missed chances and then got hit with a sucker punch

It lasted 12 minutes, we then slowed down and started to punt it to Nunez in the box.

Eh? In both games so far, we came back from behind to at least get a point in adverse circumstances. Yesterday night, with ten men against eleven. Surely that’s not a team feeling sorry for itself or downing tools?

I didn’t say downing tools and specifically said the fight shown yesterday when we went down to 10 men was brilliant. My point is there are far too many of the senior players not stepping up, far too many being complacent. Robertson is a prime example, he was the main reason we lost our initial intensity by losing the ball with simple missplaced passes.

We shouldn’t need to go 1 goal down to need a reaction or after missing a few chances we shouldn’t drop our levels.. That to me is a team feeling sorry for themselves.

We’ve conceeded first in our last 6 premiership games, its not good enough.

I’d have some sympathy if it hadn’t been going on for years. The number of injuries we pick up between matches is fucking ridiculous.

I do me best!

Ok understand what you mean. It was the ā€˜feeling sorry for themselves’ which got me off a bit. If they felt sorry for themselves, they would be like the mancs against Brentford, and couldn’t fight back as they did.

That being said, I wonder if there is a bit staleness creeping in. They won the Charity shield against Abu Dhabi, and that was a complete performance. Since then, they haven’t looked 100% fit. My take is that it isn’t a lack of desire, but maybe a fitness issue, coupled to an adaptation period.

Robbo for instance has played nearly five years with ManĆ© in front of him. Now he has to adapt to another partner, and to forwards moving differently. He looks less dangerous as a result. Same for Trent on the other side. The crosses often don’t get to a forward. The same can be said for Tsimikas, whose crossed din’t hit a forward once during the time he was on the pitch.

The loss of ManĆ© and for now, Jota, has led to a reshuffled forward line. Add to this Bobby being out against CP, and a reshuffled midfield to boot, and it’s no wonder that we struggle a bit currently. As I said previously, I was impressed with that display of fighting spirit after Nunez’ dismissal. That was Klopp’s LFC, and Kloppo was right to point that out after the game, and to say that he was proud of his lads.

Remember the days when Gareth Bale was ridiculed for being a ā€˜sick note? Fuck me, we’ve got a few of those in our squad at the moment.
