Phillips is about just as fast as I am and I am 66
earlier in the match he was tracking a ball to the sideline being chased by Zaha and kept relatively close. maybe a bit short on the initial quickness like all lanky fellas though.
But rather than stepping up we needed to drop back, if you watch VVD if he steps across and back when he 1st looks the attack is stopped. When a player has that much time and space in midfield we have to forget the highline, as it is too easy to pick that pass, I do agree the timing of the run was good but our movement made it even better. I just think we get blinkered with the high line in certain situations and player have to trust their instinct.
I know its not the same but I played in a game at the weekend and was in a similar position to VVD and saw a good run from an attacker and just covered it by coming across, to win the ball
Count the time from the ball coming to Eze to his release of the ballā¦ Our game pace is much different than theirs.
I have no problem with him he is what he is, if he was quicker, a better footballer he would not be our nr. 5 CB.
this is 100% the right way to look at it
Totally agree. 11 v 11 weāre a match for them, but their bench is stacked with Ā£50m+ replacements and we struggle (or Klopp works miracles) with injuries and rotation
With the stronger measures this season against people coming onto the field, this idiot should get a ban.
If that is āmentalā (I donāt like that word being used in this context BTW) then what did they make of Pepā ātwiceā outburst a couple of years back?
It was most definitely the wrong word to be used here and in most other acts of sensationalismā¦
It is the modern day downside of no censorship being in existence any moreā¦ couple of minutes on a keyboard and āvoilaāā¦ on display to the world and its dog for everā¦
Rob Hoskins the guy who wrote the headline calls himselfā¦
āan editor and experienced sports writer of GiveMeSportā
if that is true, makes you wonder what that makes the rest of us eh.!
He got stick from from whole stand where I were sat, which was the opposite side to where he eventually got escorted out from the twat.
Wasnāt even your typical pitch invader, he ran and then stopped and put his arms up as soon as someone started chasing him lol.
Though that was the normal thing in the UK, when you step on the pitch you get a ban together with getting into a police station every time your team plays.
Did I get this wrong?
From the above article talking about the new measures:
It is an offence for fans to enter the pitch āwithout lawful authority or lawful excuseā under the Football Offences Act 1991 - but offenders have not always been prosecuted.
However, prosecuting offenders will now be the ādefault responseā under the new measures.
