I don’t think we should be concerned yet. We have been cursed with injuries and the new boys still haven’t had enough to prepare for the EPL, which is a huge disadvantage. Diaz’s goal was sensational.
With regards to Nunez’s sending off, I think Jürgen needs to have a word with Darwin saying ’ Look son, we can’t be doing that sort of thing round here, we already had the vampire episode with your mate Luis Suarez, you need to try and stay cool’. Nunez, is young and wild, he just needs abit of mentoring, that is all. Harvey has already been settled in the team and knows the set up.
Other teams will be dropping points and having injuries later on as well, we just got ours abit early, that is all.
At least we didn’t lose and we played well with 10 men,
You ignored all the positive stuff I mentioned. On Nunez, yes there’s lots to be excited about, and we’ll need to give him time, but he had a stinker tonight. He looked dangerous because we created so many chances for him, but he seemed to scuff the ball everytime
& when I hear people either side of me shouting “stop fucking forcing it” at Trent after he’d given it away about the 28th time I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. He had a poor game, we move.
What did Nat do wrong? Other than cover for Trent after he’d just been skipped past by Eze.
Oh and btw maybe 1 cross in 20 found a red shirt in the box, rest went straight to Andersen.
In my opinion Trent was our worst player tonight. I’d be interested to see his pass completion stats. Even then I’d guess that his stats would be padded by other players determination to win balls from poor passes from Trent. I can think of at least two where he played poor passes to Fabinho and it was only Fab’s stretching to win the ball that kept us possession.
You all probably know my usual pre match post in relation to Jürgen’s game plan? But I’d genuinely like to see Trent dropped for some games. I’m sure that Milly or Joe could have dond a better job at right back tonight than Trent did. He seems to get a free pass because he’s really our only recognised first team right back. I think the lad has been poor for a couple of games now. Maybe dropping him would give him a kick in the pants?
As I said at the start, it’s just my opinion.
Now let me talk about professionalism. Jürgen really needs to tear Darwin a new one. He’s a big lad and centre backs are going to use the dark arts to unsettle him. Biting the way he did will only encourage the cloggers of the Prem to use these tactics. Milly got clattered a couple of times in the first half. He never skipped a beat. He just carried on as if there’d not even been a challenge. That’s what I want from our lads. Keep ignoring the cloggers and they’ll either stop it or step it up and that’s when they get the cards.
Also boots!!! I’ve said it before on here. Given the surfaces that the top pros play on nowadays ( I’m not sure if it came across on telly but the pitch was like a bowling green tonight) no fecker should be slipping and falling (if they’ve got the correct footwear on). Both Darwin and Luis slipped tonight. I can’t swear to it but I’m guessing that neither of ghem were wearing studs and probably had some kind of moulded blade contraption on. These top pros can get their sponsor companies to make tem all sorts of singing and dancing golden, multicoloured or customised (CR7 for example) boots. Is it too much to ask that they get them to make a pair where they don’t slip and slide when plying their trade?
Anyway I’ll stop moaning now. I thought that the atmosphere at the ground was excellent tonight. One of the best renditions of YNWA that I’ve heard in a long time. I think it was helped by George (Sephton) curtailing the music earlier than usual and just letting the fans sing it. Great to be back at ‘The Fortress’ and to carry on our rituals with my two Nephews.
BTW, if any of you happen to spot any matchday photos on social media or in any publications of a stuuningly handsomes fella with a scarf full of sew on patches could you let me know?
I was stopped twice by a couple of professional (looking) photographers and asked to pose with my scarves.
Methinks a modelling career may be beckoning. Today Anfield, tomorrow the front page of the SAGA magazine.
@Commando Yes I’d agree easily 1 of the worst, some people need to understand it’s what you do with the ball that counts not many times you’re on the ball. He probably did have as many touches as anyone else on the pitch…so? Any time he’s closed down he just clips it over with his weaker foot and gives away possession…his crossing success was less than 10%…the chance he had 0 composure. 3 times dribbled past by Eze, exact same drop of the shoulder manoevre.
That’s the league, unfortunately fellas. Sure it’s premature and ‘only four points’ but we all know cheaty are going to rack up over 90 points which will mean we need to be close to perfect to make up an extra 4 points. Almost certainly including beating cheaty at least once in the league. The whole ‘at least we didn’t lose’ doesn’t wash with me either - last season we lost fewer games but lost the title due to drawing. When you are fighting these doped cheaters a draw against another side is like a defeat.
If only something would happen to remove them from the game, could be a much more enjoyable ebb and flow title race with several teams battling out to get to 83 points.
Sofascore actually gave TAA 8.0 out of 10. His rating was 2nd to Lucho (8.1), while Whoscored rated TAA 3rd (7.38), behind Lucho (8.86) and Harvey Elliott (7.62).

Yeah, that really annoyed me. It was only slightly more aggressive than the foul on (i think) Salah. The Salah? incident was one of those where you hear the commentator(s) say ‘anywhere else on the pitch its a foul’ and this was the case here.
Irrespective of this, I don’t think the Ref had a bad game.
Not a great day at the office,Elliott shaping up well though, few ordinary efforts out there but no point in rehashing them.
On the face of it Nunez’s effort was not his finest hour,it could have well been frustration but now he is going to be given time to think about it,and it creates a headache for Klopp.
If there is a time or place for nutting it is not in the park, hard for a ref to miss that.
It needs to come together quickly or we will have a the job in front of us.
Anyway,onward and upwards!
To be honest I thought he was poor (as I do most refs). Get a fecking grip you idiots. They have ALL of the power and don’t use it. When they get get Captain’s in pre match to give them ‘The talk’ they should lay the law down and say “I’M IN CHARGE”. The game kicks off and I blow for a foul the first time some $^&/=÷ approaches me after I’ve blown for an infringement he/she gets carded and I tell them “I’M IN CHARGE”.
If these morons would just adhere to the rule book and not interpret it then life would be much easier.
