Post Match: Liverpool v Everton (EPL 20/2/21 5.30pm)

If we take some overlap into consideration, we have had a full first team calibre of players out injured. Very difficult to overcome that type of hurdle and keep standards good enough to lead the league table.

Offered the game noting in the attacking third and can’t be blaming a mad referee decision as we were losing anyways.

We need a Haaland in that team as were not scoring goals…

It’s a bit the same for me by now. And what is worse, I’m also used now to be fucked over by the refs and VAR. It has just become the new reality: football without supporters in the stands, and with refs fucking over LFC game after game. Oh, and losing at least one key player every week for a lengthy period of time.

The other night against Leipzig, I was startled by our lads’ performance, the win, and also by the ref’s fair performance. And no-one injured himself, I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Not just picking on you fella - the post you made a few up is one of the most level-headed I’ve read on here tonight amongst a sea of absolute shite - but we really need to move away from the ‘incompetent’ and ‘inept’ narrative.
What we have witnessed this season, and what some of us have been saying for longer than that, has nothing to do with incompetence. There are referees in this country who are fucking corrupt when handling our games. They are cheats, simple as that. They know exactly what they are doing. It first manifested itself this season at Chelsea when Tierney only sent off Christensen after VAR got involved and forced his hand. Next away - at Villa - there’s the blatant pen on Salah not given at 1-0 and that’s followed by the Goodison derby and the most corrupt display of officiating I’ve ever seen in nearly 5 decades of watching football in this country.
It’s been one-way traffic ever since. One bent decision after another with no balance whatsoever. I said a few weeks back it was time John Henry got involved but as usual this football club bends over and takes it up the arse so it just keeps on happening.
So, until we do something about it it will keep on happening. But let’s call a spade a spade. There are a number of referees in this division who are fucking corrupt and intent on doing this club over every opportunity they get.

Ii am trying to see that we are not being done over by VAR, but read this.

You spot on Jaffod…
I certainly have watered down my true feelings on the matter of referees and the way they handle our games compared to others. I also think John Henry needs to take a keener interest to support the crap Jurgen and the boys have to put up with each game… but as the old saying goes…
“he who laughs last laughs loudest”
We might be getting screwed at this moment in time and our premiership dreams lay in tatters, but for all we know, John Henry will really stick it to the Mike Riley’s of this world if and when he eventually forms this breakaway league…!! He might be playing the long game when all we see is the weekly crap served up to us by officials. Most concerning of all, is the rapid deterioration and freefall state in front of our own eyes of the game we love

Haven’t seen any of the game yet because I gave up on watching a corrupt product 6 or 7 weeks ago (after the Southampton game actually).
Today was nothing I didn’t expect. These cunts ruined our season in October and it was totally in keeping with this shitshow of a season that we’d lose to them and that fucking sour-faced twat would score one of the goals.
I’m pretty philosophical about it. Nothing good will come of this season and I’m past caring. I couldn’t give a shit if we finish 15th and get beat 3-0 by Leipzig in the 2nd leg tbh.
What I do know is scores will be settled next season. We have one of the strongest squads in Europe and I don’t see many wanting to jump ship. I’d happily take no European football next season because it’s crap anyway, games being played in empty, neutral stadiums isn’t for me.
Jurgen Klopp’s pre -match speech has already been written for next season. For every fucking domestic game. “Remember how we were treated last season”. That’s all that needs to be said. I can’t fucking wait.

It wasn’t actually VAR that did us today, it was the corrupt referee. He was told to go to the monitor to review his decision for a reason and that reason was, he was wrong. He chose to glance at the screen for about 2 seconds before confirming his original decision.

That’s just the thing. It’s not just VAR. It’s the early bookings our players get, the constant assaults on Salah and Mane, the breaking up of play for innocuous ‘fouls’ by our lads while clear fouls the other way are overlooked.
These cheating cunt referees haven’t just used VAR to do us over, there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

To be fair anyone. Lets have a decent conversation about it.

One thing I will add is that all coaches, especially the better ones will have their core principles which their sides are built around. They seldom change or drift too far from them. There will be tweaks here and there to suit personnel etc. but the core idea remains constant. With Klopp its a high line, pressing and transition. Not sure what tweaks we can make without departing too far from that and using a limited number of resources.

We do need something though, I do agree. Even if it means winning games 4-3.

I agree with the part about losing players for a lengthy time, that cant help
but not the rest of the 1st paragraph (VAR, refs, supporters).

all we give for out crap performances are excuses,

how long do we give excuses for?

its a dangerous road we are on…

Sorry…

I honestly get so tired of fans constantly calling the refs out or bemoaning our injury stats and using these issues to justify our losses. I watch the games pretty close, you know what I don’t see, our front three scoring when they do have control of the ball. I hardly ever see a fast break of one of our forwards. What I do see is paddy cake passing back and forth, back and forth as the defenders lines up man to man or double teaming our expected predictable routes. Even when one of our front three do make a fast break, 9 out of 10 times their to damm slow or have no other forward to pass to. I see an offense totally out of synchronization. Our defense hasn’t been that bad as yes we get scored on but not in large ways that couldn’t be countered if we’d just fucking score ourselves. Our Coach needs to get his head out of his ass and incorporate some different formations and offensive plays. It’s not like we don’t have the talent! Right?

This league season is clearly a write-off now. The exact opposite of last season in fact. For me our past success in recent seasons has been built on the confidence of the team as a whole, that our central defensive unit - Fabinho in front of VVD + CB (albeit injury-prone) partner along with AB in goal - would nearly always get us out of jail if we were under the cosh. With the loss of VVD early in the season and (naturally) the crumpling of our other two first team CBs, the season has gone to shit. Allison knows he has no protection in front of him worth a damn and his confidence has gone. Fabinho is being played out of position and this has weakened midfield. Ditto Hendo. The whole team is going into a game these days thinking that we’re going to lose, probably. My point is this: It’s been clear to ALL that the majority of our first team CBs have been injury-prone for SEVERAL seasons now, and f#ck all has been done about it. The blame for this can be twofold: The manager, for being chronically short-sited, or the owners, for not backing the manager’s concerns in the matter. I know who my money is on. Thanks for reading.

My point was really first and foremost about the injuries. It has been absolutely off the scale, all season. I’ve never seen anything like this since I watch football, and that’s quite some decades by now!

The rest isn’t so much excuses I think, just points which make it even harder for our lads to perform at their best level. But with a ‘normal’ number of injuries, there’s no doubt that we’d be playing first fiddle in this league, just like last season, inept/corrupted refs or not, empty stands or not.

Bit of a hopeless optimist, but the next 8 PL matches are all quite winnable. Whether fitness or form show up to win them can be contested, but they are against sides which can be beaten

If not, win the CL and we will take that as consolation

And that’s why I expected we’d go for their throats today. All Klopp had to say before the game was “ remember what happened in October. Remember what these twats did and were allowed to get away with”.
Not only did they win the game today, but they’re also basking in the satisfaction of massively ruining our season at Goodison.

Just seen the ‘penalty’ for the first time

Wow. Just fucking WOW. I was expecting it to be a joke but fuck me, it goes beyond that. That’s corruption right there. No pretence at hiding it. It’s in plain sight.
But where the fuck are our lads? Nobody questioning it, nobody in the manc cheats face. This is as big a problem as the corruption itself.

I agree with Hope, the injury list is horrendous and unbelievable. Klopp has to make do with the personnel he has. On top of that , bad luck and unfair refereeing decisions.

Do you think it will help? The lads will be labelled as " moaning minnies". They are damned if they don’t complain and damned if they do.
