Post Match: Liverpool v Everton (EPL 20/2/21 5.30pm)

Absolutely right.

But apparently we need to adjust. That is also right but there’s some underestimation of the size of that adjustment.

Still cant fathom why up top is utterly flat though. Salah looked well off this evening while Mane and Firmino certainly put the effort in, it was quite blunt.

Thiago should be kept out until we get our casualties back. He was brought in to work with Hendo and Kieta in midfield and he’s just not cutting it on his own.

Get Keira back on the field and hope that Hendo isn’t too badly injured. Put the CBS that we bought in and hope we we can start scoring and blowing teams away,

Nothing else is going to work until we get our injured players back

What about the attack
What about the MF; how many season ending injuries have we had there?

There are multiple things within our control in terms of how we attack and how we defend.

We might as well suggest to the league that we are incapable of playing the rest of our games!

Everybody has injuries, to different degrees…

Actually you could argue that we’ve had two season ending injuries in midfield as well. By taking Fabinho and Henderson out to play in defense they are not available for the midfield. We’ve now lost both to injuries. Second time for Fabinho this season I think as well. Happy to be corrected there

There are certainly other reasons over and above the injury crisis but this shit doesn’t help by any means.

Sure we need to adjust. You’ll note we have been trying but clearly that adjustment has not been enough. And that’s my point. We need some real magic to get us moving again.

They were sharper than us. As simple as that.
How is that possible at Anfield?
Possession was about 80/20 %, but possession doesn‘t score gols.
Last four league games we scored only twice, one of the two was a pen.
Ball was passend mostly sidewards and backwards. We had not enough players in the box at times.

From now on I want to see two natural CB. We Need Hendo and Fabinho desperately in midfield.

This team has taken the plaudits over the past 2-3 years well now they can take the criticisms too.

This season, because of injuries or the pandemic or the conspiracy against LFC have turned from champions to complete shit houses.

They had a good 2 seasons but the team needs freshening up and too many players are walking around with the Champions League runners up medals, Champions League winners medals, World Club Championship Medals and Premier League medals and have stopped trying. They’ve become embaressing. 4 losses at Anfield. Wake the fuck yo lads.

Fucking not good enough.

Any suggestions?

As punishment for a poor display do you recommend a 10 mile run? 1000 press ups? 10 minute plank?

My guess is we wont see Henderson for a month. Fabinho is closer I think. Any news on Milner?

Has the guy who started the pre-match thread been banned yet…?

One team that’s faced anything like the adversity we have. Just one.

By all means avoid the question again by suggesting I’m mentally deficient.

All excuses. La la la la la la. Look at me. Look at me. It doesn’t matter that we’ve got six central defenders out injured and a referee who won’t even look at a monitor when he’s instructed to. We should just batter them Ev because I want them to. And if you disagree you are mentally deficient.

The penalty didn’t change the result, but it was one of the most indicative decisions this season in respect of referee bias.

He wanted to give it to ensure the result.

Our own transfer mistakes (centre backs), injuries, playing key players in that dead rubber, and various other issues have cost us this season.

But the referees are without question trying to cause harm to LFC. They are trying to stop the club finishing top 4, so it suffers financially, and is even less of a threat to the cheating bribing blue half of Manchester next season.

Klopp is making it worse by never changing anything. Our system has been worked out, every week we see the same thing, loads of possession, score zero or very few goals, concede a goal, then another goal or two late on.

What does he expect to change? The opponents won’t so we have to.

Take Firmino out, change the shape of midfield, sure up defence with an extra centre back. Go 442 with TAA and Robertson in wide midfield, go 352.

Do something different until we have the players back and in form to make our normal style of play work.

Results will not change until we do.

I know your post was for someone else but for me, this is for The Boss to figure out. If we are without all of these key players wouldn’t it make sense to do something different tactically? To perhaps maximize the players and personnel that’s we do have. It just doesn’t seem to be much adjustment. High line, fullbacks bombing forward. Hoofball, long ball, too much 1:1 street ball on the peripheral and around the box. It’s all the same. It’s stale and it’s predictable.

And is Tsimikas that bad or inured or doesn’t understand the tactics or whatever else that he can’t get one match? Just one? Robbo is absolutely ground into dust at the moment, and Tsimikas was bought for a reason.

If we are getting beat using our normal tactics… then by all means mix it up and try something different using the guys we have available… what have we got lose by doing so.!
We need time for the injured to get fit… getting beat regularly until that happens is something we might need to get used to.
Give the CL a good go and work behind the scenes getting prepared for next season.!
This team owes us nothing… is it not unfair we keeping asking for one last hurrah…!

Highlighted perfectly there. Love Klopp to bits, but fuck me he must be stubborn. I just want to see something different! Accept the opposition have found an effective way to blunt our attack and respond with a trick or two of our own.

I know you think it’s bias against the city of Liverpool. I don’t know. I’m not going to argue that it isn’t, because you make a fair point and I’m hardly in the position to say it isn’t.

But I think there is a path of least resistance argument. Two teams. One referee. One team making his fucking life hell. One passively accepting everything with a rueful smile. One team surrounding him, bullying him, screaming in his face. One team pleasantly letting him referee the game.

Who gets the decisions? Which team is the ref going to favour for a quiet life?

The problem as far as I can see it, is that we are just too passive, too nice and too ready to accept whatever shit is thrown at us.

The penalty today was the fucking nadir. The worst I’ve seen. And when Kavanagh is told to go to the monitor, he barely fucking glances at it, such is the contempt he holds LFC in.

Sure it doesn’t change the game, but it takes it from a game we’re probably going to lose to one we are definitely going to lose.

Heard during the Wrap commentary that Mo Salah is the 16th most fouled player for LFC this season, according to the activism stats. That’s tells you everything you need to know about the decisions we gave to put up with.

One big problem we have with incompetent referees screwing us over… is that within 24hrs it has already become yesterdays news with incompetency rearing its head in other games. Pundits, match fixtures are just coming too thick and fast to gather our thoughts and point fingers at these inept decisions until we can secure satisfactory answers. If Mike Riley as the head of the snake is the yardstick to which we all must obey… then the future of football in this country is in real danger of becoming a non-entity within 10yrs.

So for you, the fact that our first team has been picked down until the bare bones by injuries to key players is irrelevant for you? Klopp should adapt you say, but how?

My take: football is a simple game. Top players decide who wins and who does not. At this level, you need top quality. When that top quality goes away from you for a prolonged time and you have to adapt to it by replacing it with second rate quality, you’re toast. It’s really as simple as that.
