Post Match: Liverpool v Everton (EPL 20/2/21 5.30pm)

The saving grace to this is that we don’t need to find 200m for a rebuild because our squad is already fucking boss.

That’s the thing. The one thing keeping me sane right now is the thought of this squad being fit and well going into the new season, with or without European football.
Scores will be settled next season, I’ve no doubt about that whatsoever.

we really are screwed if we’re relying on minamino to come good.

Makes no difference…

You do not have the cognitive ability to understand beyond basic concepts…

Yeah, just ignore the point of 8 first team players being injured and the knock-on effect it’s had on the whole team and get in a cheap shot at one of the squad players who might just come good in a settled team.

Is there a reason you haven’t posted anything match-related since the 7-2 at Villa?

4 losses in a row in the League. What can Klopp do to remedy this ailing Liverpool side?

Sympathize mate.

The problem isn’t VAR. The problem is that the OFFICIALS are INCOMPETENT!

The Premier League needs a dedicated VAR office that handles all gameday VAR rulings, with officials trained specially in using VAR. Take the VAR decisions out of the hands of the buffoons on the field and give it to professionals trained in video review who actually know and properly interpret the rulebook!!

Do you think there’s a chance the ‘incompetence’ might work in our favour some day?

Can’t wait for the pandemic to be over so I can visit Anfield and we would start winning again. I am the lucky charm, we have won the both times I have been there. Its true.

In vino veritas. Bollocks.

Newcastle game, Darlow looks and grabs Mane to prevent him from knocking the ball in. Ref view? Completely natural phase of play. Nothing to see here.

This game, the parried ball is there to be won, and DCL trips over TAA’s head. Ref view? An instant penalty, with only a cursory glance at the monitor to rubber stamp his decision.

Media view? Nothing much said about Darlow; about TAA, much of the talk is about how he escaped a red card.

Can’t make this shit up.

It seems from reading half these posts that Everton were better than us, they won I accept that, but no way were they better, we dominated them in every aspect apart from the most important one which is scoring.

Personally I wouldn’t want us to be like them or the other teams that just sit back and hope for a bit if luck or just hit a team on the break.

I prefer us to dominate the ball and create pressure to attack teams and score goals. We have done this for the last 2 years and it shows through our trophy cabinet, but we are at the moment living off scraps through a shocking injury list, that’s all.

The biggest thing compared to the 2 wonderful seasons we’ve just had, is that teams are now finishing off the very few chances that they get, as well as getting help from refs with dubious penalties. Whereas we aren’t scoring anywhere near our ‘xg’ with our attackers being off form. For me the loss of Jota was massive as e were scoring freely and there was also pressure on all the front 3 to perform, his injury actually hit us harder that us initially missing VVD & Joe. Now with Matip also out and having no settled CB’s we are also making far more mistakes which isn’t helping.

Lastly with our midfielders playing at the back, we haven’t the numbers to rotate nowhere to the extent that we have over our previous 2 glorious years.

I hate us losing but for fecks sake I don’t want to play Neanderthal football like Spurs or teams that are 'Strong defensively because they have 11 men camped in their half and just hit in the break or set pieces, you win feck all playing like that.

Had my rant, keep going fellas, I’ll support you through thick and thin, but don’t play like a Roy Hodgson team as some are advocating

really unlucky with injuries this season, but we have to keep going, no hanging of heads. Team needs to get inspiration from the way they played last season

Our midfield was really poor. I cannot remember Thiago play 1 vertical ball he also slowed the game even more than I can remember Gini doing. (Players from Bundesliga :face_vomiting:)
Also why were Gini and Thiago leaving Jones unsupported it made it so easy for Everton to win the ball back and as Gini nor Thiago were in support they were also not in position to help defend. Fucking crap!
So despite Salah not being in great form I feel the major culprits for this defeat were the midfield (though to a lesser effect Jones who actually tried).
Kabak was severely exposed, he hasn’t the experience and obviously never had to play the offside trap in the Budesliga :face_vomiting:
We have severe problems in defense (down to 7/8/9 choices that Klopp seems to hate even so Nat comes on and gives all he can. Yet despite having the most crazy defenders in the EPL it’s not them letting us down. We should be able to score a few goals to beat the Blue toffee shit.
As for the penalty even if my commentators thought it wasn’t I thought it was. The reason well from what I saw TAA slid in and didn’t touch the ball he ended up obstructing the attacker, it wasn’t intentional but I don’t think it needs to be.

Anyway seeing our midfield perform so badly and Hendo pick up what looked like a groin strain (definitely caused by a thug catching his ankle/heel) almost finished me off. I don’t know how much more I can take of this, I’m not a glutton for punishment I just want to see us turn the corner. Still there’s the champions league to look forward to at least in that midfielders don’t need to work.
:sob:

Almost seems a redundant comment but that pen decision, holy hell what a howler. Honestly never a pen.

Rugby league here in aus ‘drops’ refs when a terrible decision is made, not overtly publicly but nonetheless are quietly pushed down a level for a few weeks. It doesn’t diminished respect for the officials. Different outlook to the UK in that respect I suppose.

Why has Thiago stopped those vertical balls, has he been told not to by the coaches or is the movement not their for him???

BTW Thiago doesn’t slow us down he still looks for 1 & 2 touch passing, at the moment yes that is more sideways, but why he didn’t play like that for Bayern, thats why I think its our movement, which for me Milly when fresh and Hendo offer.

BTW obstruction/impedes the progress is an indirect free kick, therfore not a penalty, but then I disagree with your version of it anyway and I’m always RIGHT

It’s completely the opposite here. If a referee wants to further his career, he has to make a blunder or two.

And he gets fast-tracked for screwing over Liverpool FC.

I really doubt that Thiago can retain his starting position when everyone else returns.

My preferred midfield would be Jones - Fabinho - Henderson.
