Some dreadful stuff from VVD today. He really needs to own the captaincy but just doesn’t. Unfortunate as for so long he provided so much.

Yes and No - the consistent trick is he is going to favor his right foot and go that way most of the time. Although he does flash skill on his left on occasion he should probably trust going on to his left more to have that diversity of play.
But - yeah, he was good and possibly more effective on the right than he has been on the left. We need at least one more winger in if we are going to let him leave.

Both the offside and the penalty decisions were decided by Oliver not the ref the commentators confirmed that.

I think we are, considering the new manager is doing his best to cobble a team together while the club is scurrying around to get him decent players in the next couple of days.

Just realized that our first home match in 26/27 did not field a UK player in the first XI. At least our subs addressed that.

I would say two draws aren’t bad . I think the old players will have to get used to new manager’s style and adjust with the new players.

Fair assessment, and I don’t think they were anything like as lackadaisical as we were last season. It’s going to take time, but I can see an improvement even over last week.

I think so, Iraola is still testing things out by the looks of it. The squad are making efforts and certain are playing well at times, it looks decent until we attack or defend.
More from Isak would help.
I am enjoying some of the play which is better than the last season and a half.
We need patience then wait and see.

Reading the thread, seems to be we’re back to being the dreaded ‘work in progress’. It’s been at least a couple of years since we’ve been one.
Seriously, if’s fucking pathetic and disgraceful. How do you go from being champions 15 months ago to being a fucking work in progress with a shit, paper-thin squad? After spending a fucking fortune.
Yesterday was little different to what we watched last season. Bad goals conceded, sideways and backwards passing, no control.
On a positive the 2 goals we scored came from when someone actually showed some conviction in the final third. Gakpo and Munoz. So let’s sell one of them.
Thought Wirtz had a good game and MacAllister looked better than he did the whole of last season but that’s a pretty low bar.
Jacquet was ok but got caught out a couple of times. The less said about the 2 FB’s the better.
Isak took his goal well, he doesn’t miss those. Might get another tap-in before the season finishes.
We’re a mid-table team and will be out of the title race by October. If we don’t sign a right back and at least 1 quality centre-mid this week we won’t even qualify for Conference League. It’s a fucking joke.
