Post match: Liverpool v Fulham (7/3/21 2.00pm)

I think what Liverpool are doing is providing the rest of the country with a lot of pleasure, to help them through the lockdown. They deserve a lot of credit for that.

(Not aimed just at you, by the way) For the millionth time: we lost that tie due to our forwards’ inability to take their chances. Sound familiar? At the time, everyone was saying that “it was just one of those nights” but now it seems to be a recurring theme.

If they had converted more than one of our 30+ efforts, the tie would never have gone to extra time in the first place.

More seriously, for me us winning the League and Trump losing were the only things that made last year not completely as shit as it could have been.

Well I do agree with that. Always thought that the game could have been taken to bed long before, and with no need for extra time.
But I don’t think it was similar to what is going on currently with our forwards. We did score goals that night, and we did have tons of chances, losing some of the chances was something not limited to that game. If only we would had scored the extra time goal a few minutes earlier though.
Different story than now, and actually is exactly the difference:
Then: lots of chances, miss some, but score some goals.
Now: No chances, fail to score from the very few that we do get.

But point stands. Barring two exceptions, we were really playing like champions, of both Europe and England.

Nothing to say…just…same old same old. Shite.

Saying that we weren’t this bad, there is a world of difference between our form up to Xmas day and what we are seeing now.

We beat SU away once upon a time!

You’ve got me there, I don’t remember playing Southend Utd.

Yes, we fans all feel pretty crappy, miserable, pissed off, looking for heads to cut off, but, for Gods sake, think about how our players feel right now!
How can we dare not support them in their hours of need? Come on, let’s get together on all the blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and let them know we’re still Reds fans and always will be, and just like we’ve gotten back up after getting knocked down, with our unwavering support, so can they!!
We’re not bad fans nor are they a bad team! I still LOVE MY REDS! All of them and they’ll be my team until the day I die! GO REDS!!!

I don’t think an Internet forum counts as social media?

Yes, we were hit and miss from after the winter break. So it’s a year now, including the period when we had less injuries, so not all about injuries.

Either we’ve run out of steam, run out of ideas, been worked out, or a combination of all of them.

Personally I think the lack of management experience in Klopp’s assistant isn’t helping him.

I didn’t disagree with his changes today, I think he has to throw everything at the CL, for the sake of morale, money and status.

This current situation is partly on Klopp, because our tactics aren’t working. But it’s also on the players.

For me our situation does require changes, not only to make changes that are needed, but also to show our better players that we’ll do what we need to in order to compete, which will refresh them mentally.

A club of our size that has recognised its issues would move on 4 or 5 (Matip or Gomez, Shaqiri, Origi, Bobby, Gini) and sign some quality players - a player who can compete with TAA for right back, a centre back partner for VVD, at least one midfielder and a forward.

Well that’s cheered me up. I feel bad enough after the game, now I’m verging on suicidal! Where’s that bottle?

Lol well I wouldn’t want that, so tweaked it for you.

Fabinho has to start in midfield from now on. He made a massive difference when he came on. It was the first time in weeks we actually pinned a team in their own half. Looked more like our old selves. If someone had said to me at the start of this season that we’d end up with Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips as our CBs I’d assume we’d had the worst season since Souness was manager and that’s how it’s turning out but we can’t continue to waste our top midfielders back there.

Second half we were OK. Didn’t deserve to win obviously but there was some fight about the performance and in the end we were unlucky not to get a point. I thought Neco did OK and Keita at least tried to be positive in possession.

I mentally checked out on this season a long time ago. COVID football isn’t real football and I’m not feeling any pain, just sadness for JK and frustration with all the fucking entitled idiots now getting on his back. I’d have loved to have been there today, getting behind the lads and the manager, especially in that second half. Sure it would have been bedlam and we would have got something. I think next season will be very different. I just hope people’s impatience and ignorance doesn’t drive JK out before then.
