Yeah this was one of the things I noticed the most.

We actually played some very good switches of play which has been almost non existent this season

Yes, ball was being moved quicker. Salah played one delightful crossfield pass Ive not seen such of since Trent left.

It’s too early, but I was wondering whether we all end up eating humble pie in the autumn :poop:

Till 15 minutes into after halftime and we reverted back to type and induced pressure.

Yeah saw that, and questioned, where we would be now if we had not conceded all the late goals we have. Because it looked to threaten a capitulation again around 65mins. Then Slot put fresh legs on and I didnt see the threat again.

At last, a good day. Not perfect by any means but we played some decent stuff in a game I just didn’t see us winning beforehand.
Thought Mo was great, best he’s played this season. The less said about Gakpo the better.
Gives me hope we can get that top 5 finish I’d almost given up on.
A day that could have been absolutely toxic turned out all right in the end.

I do not like scapegoating single player, but it is human nature to pin the blame on one person, and I am no exception…i grind my teeth whenever Gakpo is on the pitch and try to run with the ball. He is just horrible to watch this season, holding onto the ball like his mistress and not letting go. Nevertheless, he has one assist, and actually bailed us out with his defensive duty. Oh, he actually did ran all the way to the byline today. Wow, what a concept!

At last, something to smile about,Rio motm easily,Flashes of the old Mo,looked less lethargic, maybe the players know something we don’t.
Anyway it comes we’ll take it.
Not hopeful about Tuesday, but love to be wrong!

Apologies that we don’t have high standards like yours but I am just a Liverpool supporter, I am pleased and relieved when we win, regardless of opponent.

To be fair, @TheFlyingPig has a point though. It was a welcome win, but the second half didn’t produce confidence for the games ahead.

You are not wrong about the 2nd half though he choose to mock our celebration of the win because we have now become a slo-mo, passionless as he said in his post. We definitely lax in the 2nd half but overall we did well. There is no need to use celebrating a win to throw shade at the efforts of the team last night.

I had my thoughts toward this for a long time. Others have mentioned Szoboszlai there however there was always a consensus that he’s better further forward. I think there’s a hint that that’s not the case however he himself as a player probably also feels he’s better further forward.

First half was more than interesting, I nodded off in the second as it was the same old tripe unfortunately.

For me just one point to take home from that match, despite taking all 3 points, Rio should have played a lot more on the left this season than he has. For soo many reasons!
I enjoyed the first half, even if Wirtz didn’t get into the rhythm as much as I would have liked.
Second half was another abysmal affaire where the distance between our lines was all wrong and the defence didn’t push out. We ended up knackered due to this running around in empty spaces. Funny that this happens when Gravenberch is on the pitch, he really is not made for this stupid tactic. Also VVD looks to down tools in these situations and looses concentration. With Konaté who has concentration problems anyway this match really did identify some of the major problems we have had this season.
Thankfully it wasn’t catastrophic this time and we got all the points and a clean sheet to as well.

I think Rio definitely has to be first choice or playing alot more next season. He earned it. Moving forward to next season, I think 5 main players - Rio, Isak, Hugo, Gakpo and Salah replacement will rotate for the 3 attacking places.

The only reason for Rio not to play would be because the club knows he’s at risk for long term injuries a this point and need caution.

He hasn’t played enough in any stretch of the imagination. Development needs game time simple as!

I’m glad you have inside knowledge about his current physical condition to be able to assert this conclusively.
