All the streams were terrible again! Annoying crackdown it seems.
Arsed to have them drop pointsâŠbut delighted how they fought hard to still get 1 with the red card so early.
I made an observation at the pub that Klopp would have been in the refereesâ faces all day long for their ineptitude. Arne didnât do that. Then someone wisely said that it was better to have that fire directed on the pitch with the playersâwhere the goals are scored. Good points.
We drew.
Robinson mistake was crucial, Got to be happy with the point.
Insane performance
I thought that was a great game and a superb performance. This team
We dug deep to come from behind twice, so all things considered, that was a very good point with ten men.
They easily could have had a man sent off, and they got away with some rough stuff, especially in the first half. But from Fulhamâs perspective they had to come to Anfield and put everything into the game to get anything, and thatâs what they did.
Final word to Gravenberch. What a player, midfield, sensational. Defence, no problem. He has always had the talent, but this is a real breakthrough season for him as he has stepped up to be a regular, main man, sort of player for us.
Letâs be honest, if someone had been concerned he would be missing a game last season due to suspension youâd expect the worry was due to an injury and an extra body rather than any performance.
I re-watched that to show my son how passive Van Dijk was in the buildup to their second goal. He should have shouted âtake ballâ to Quansah and slid over to cover the run of Robinson. Quansah should have taken Iwobi as soon as he recieved the ball.
I blame Capt Virk for that one. He left Quansah on his own there
My player of the season thus far. May say heâs even better than prime Fabinho and truly our anchor man. What a game by him today, and what a find by Klopp
That sky looks like itâs about to make you upto your armpits in very very cold.
That was the perfect pass and weight and that was down to Robinsons pace, harder for Quansah as he had to be aware of both the ball and player, he should have done better, also, watch the replay and look at Virg, if he carries on his run he could have cut out the pass from Robinson.
Itâs Trents initial positioning on the 1st goal, that was poor, if he is 2 yards deeper he can then be in position to slow up Robinson, so Robinson has to beat him
Virgâs is brilliant when in 1 v 1âs but at times he needs to bust a gut to help other players out, they arenât as good as he his and they get beaten.
There have been a few times where he jogs back rather than sprinting to cover.
As I said overall, a very good point today with how the game went and supreme effort from the players
So he doesnât just need to be the best defender in the world, he needs to fill in othersâ shortcomings also?
I genuinely am not following what you are saying here
I dont see how we can take issue with Trentâs original position considering he was where he was because he was initially responsible for closing down Iwobi one the ball got to him in his position
Trent holds up Iwobi and passes him off to Gravy so he can then track the run of Robinson. The issue is he just doesnt do it well enough. I think this is completely valid to call out.
Like I said, now do Quansah on the second goal
Admittedly, initially it looks like heâs in trouble with the way Robinson breaks through. He needs to close down Iwobi but cannot because of Robinson so he just drops off as he should
But then Iwobi helps us out by slowing it down. This allows Quansah to hand him off to Trent and concentrate solely on going with Robinsonâs run
Just like Trent on the first goal, he made the transition, but just got ran past by a player he was unable to keep up with.
There are several things we can do better on both goals besides preventing Robinson getting in his cross, but my issue is when itâs trent who gets run past on a goal we rag out trent, and when its someone else who gets run past on a separate goal that comes from a very similar build up we still rag out trent for some other reason.
Trent can see both the ball and the man and you move his position back 2 yards and the pass to get beyond becomes far harder.
On Quansah, yes, he should have covered the run better, but he has to watch the ball, taking his eyes off his man and that makes it harder, the pass from Iwobi was a lot harder, less space to play it into, and it was perfect in weight, accuracy and timing, not many are going to match Robinsons pace.
What is interesting is the lack of effort from Virg!
BTW I was talking about Trentâs Positioning once Grav had come back, which I agree wasnât obvious from my post, he just switched off thinking he had done his job
Are our goals worth watching? Otherwise I might not bother with the highlights.
Least in the Forest we didnât score any.
