Post match: Liverpool v Galatasaray (UCL 18/3/26 8pm)

Watching Chelsea’s game against PSG I am not as sure as I was after the spuds game that we would get rinsed by them, because Chelsie were very poor at the back and as a team. They also do not have Donnaruma who stopped everything at Anfield. My brother lives in Paris and his French wife has a season ticket at PSG and they believe they have the easiest tie of the quarters! Please Slot prove them wrong and take them out at Anfield.

Where has that team been all season?

Everything we’ve missed all season was there - pace, passion, intensity, neat interplay, chance creation…we could, and should, have scored 10.

Gala found out what it’s like to play in a stadium where the noise isn’t piped in and the ref isn’t giving them every fucking decision, although that disallowed goal for Mac was diabolical. They were dead on their feet after an hour and didn’t lay a glove on us. Their play-acting 1st half was pathetic.

Thought the crowd was great so not sure why Dom and Ibou felt the need to constantly gesture for more support. I was fucking goosed after half an hour.

Kerkez and Dom MOTM. Kerkez’s commitment is a sight to behold. Dom was everywhere but I do question Slot not making some changes earlier. That could cost us on Saturday, there’ll be some tired legs tonight despite how easy it was by the end.

The one thing I noticed about PSG last year is they give up a lot of chances. Our problem is we don’t take nearly enough of what we create.
If we can play against them like we did tonight then we’ve got a chance.

I am convinced the 4-4-2 is the formation to get the best out of the players we have. The midfield is compact/protected, the fullbacks offer width, and Ekitike has someone else to play off of. The intensity and desire are the reason we won tonight, but the formation played to the players strengths.

It wasn’t a 4 4 2 in possession, that was the shape defensively it was a hybrid of a 4 3 3, with Flo given licence to room and Mo playing more inside right and Ekite occupying both centre and to the left side.

It was very fluid especially some of the link up play and great to see runners beyond their back line. Also, that longer ball over the top to Hugo kept stretching them, resulting in space inbetween the lines for Flo to pull the strings.

No Gakpo  well, perhaps that’s the reason

“Might” beat them, not will. I think we have reasons to be cheerful, and a bit optimistic.

That is assuming Gakpo is not the first name on the starting lineup, the defence being alert and the midfield actually being present by not gallivanting too far forward.

Just be positive for once it doesn’t hurt and is good for the soul!

I really want to be positive. However, it took the Kop and the rest of the stadium to loudly boo the team in the last league match for any visible changes to be made for last night’s match.

Knowing Arne Slot, I will not be surprised that he reverts back to type for the match against Brighton.
