Bit silly to compare a striker to a winger for goals to game tbf.
I wouldn’t want to see Haaland 52m 15 games how ever many goals and Diaz 50m 22 games 7 goals
We should buy that Faes guy and play him up front, clinical finishing…
Not as silly as suggesting we go out and but any two midfielders
In what world is that silly?
We probably need 3 if I’m being totally honest.
Ox Naby Milner are goners in 6 months, Hendo is not up to it anymore which will be painful to hear, Elliott as GR has pointed out 1000x times is not a midfielder. Jones is and never will be good enough to be a starter either.
So perhaps even 4.
Your not comparing apples with apples with that one.
Didn’t you suggest we just buy any two midfielders?
As we all saw, poor performance. Our midfield was too easy to get through, and our passing was especially poor today.
Thiago was the best of the bunch.
Trent defended well against a tricky winger.
Darwin never stopped, and was unlucky not to score.
Apart from that, three points and we move on.
You would have to think we will sign a midfielder in January and another in summer. Caicedo and Bellingham and away we go. Let’s see.
Any 2 from our targets list would do, even if it’s a list of 50.
If you’re ok with seeing poor performance after poor performance from them then that’s up to you.
So is he at the moment!
For January , we need a DM. Fabinho’s off the boil this year.
We can talk about midfield reinforcements for the upcoming season later.
I’m okay with Elliot being a #8 btw , he’s bound to make mistakes as he’s still young though
I wouldn’t go that far, it’s not vintage Virgil for sure but we’re still very much a better side with him in it than not.
This is exactly what you said
"Get Amrabat and Barella in before Jan 31st, or any 2 midfielders we can afford."
Buy any 2 midfielders we can afford.
You may not remember but thats what Rodgers did when he was here.
Klopp is better than that.
Yeah, those 2 would be terrific right about now.
Relying on a 32 year old Thiago to do the job of 3 midfielders doesn’t sit right with me.
If you can’t step up, step out.
Which two out of the “any 2 midfielders”?
Blind and Shelvey
Klopp lambasting the midfield post match.
Thank our lucky stars tonight. We were crap. Thiago was the only outstanding player. Ox shouldn’t be anywhere on the pitch for us.
Hendo was terrible. We need to sign a quality midfielder if we’re
going to finish in top four.
Just read that Toney was stretchered off in Brentfords win over West Ham. That will help massively.
Expect klopp to be giving the players a bit of a hiding tonight.
Hugely important win, 4th in a row. And we won a game where we played pretty ordinary football.
I wrote 1000 times that this club needed quality midfielders /not midfielder/. Thiago, Hendo and Elliott are probbaly the slowest midfield trio in the PL and this is a huge problem, especially when you play with such a high defensive line and when you leave so much space for the opponnent. We need physical, aggressive, pressing monsters. Sadly Hendo is getting older and slower, while Harvey is very good with the ball in his feet /not today and against Villa though/, but defensively he is an absolute passenger, walking and watching. He practically let TAA deal alone against Barnes for most of the match. And that moment when Dewsbury-Hall had a free run and a clear header was shocking, Harvey just standind still around and watching, like most of the fans at Anfield.
The lack of dynamism, speed and quality in our midfield was shocking today, I stopped counting how many times Hendo, Harvey and Thiago passed the ball to a Leicester player, while there was almost no pressure on them.
Matip made too many poor passes too, uncharacteristically for him. He did not look calm and composed and that is not typical for him.
And what about our forwards - AOC - a nice lad, but not at our level, poor in all aspects of his game, can you see him being even close to the bench of the other teams fighting for top 4 spot?
Darwin - I like his speed and desire, but that is not enough. In the last 2 matches he had 6 100% chances to score a goal and he missed all of them. Today he must kiss the boots of Faes who saved his and Mo’s blushes. At least Salah is a reliable scorer, but when you pay almost 70 mln. pounds for a striker, I expect to see him score 1 out of 3 or 4 clear chances, like Mane, Salah and Jota for example.
Nunez should look at young Bajcetic’s goal vs. Villa and learn. Got the ball, went pass the keeper and scored. An 18 yeras old defensive midfielder who cost the club 250 000 pounds. Nunez must stop playing only instinctivley and try to be more intelligent and smarter in front of goal.
And few positives. TAA had a brilliant second half, also created the first goal, but in my opinion his defensive display was much more important. Alisson saved us when Barnes one 1 vs.1 and his distribution was solid. Thiago was at least better than his partners in midfield, but he is still miles away from his best days.Tsimikas played well and Naby looked good with the ball at his feet.
Brentford is a better version of Burnley /again with taller playes, but faster, stronger and better athletes/ and we will need to be better in every deparment of our games to have a chance to take something from them. Especially our finishing which is shocking at the moment.
And we need a quality addition in midfield this early January. Not another signing like Arthur, the new Ben Davies in midfield…
