Three points and no further injuries is all we could have asked for.
We got a lot more than that. Emphatic victory, our 100th goal this season (scored by Harvey on his 100th appearance for the club), Diaz became our 5th player in double figures on goals scored, youngsters got their debuts …
I did not think the first half was that bad. We did not play bad, we created chances, just the final pass or finish was lacking. Okay, we did not maintain so much control, it felt like we wanted to rush something, kind of run-and-gun performance. Second half though was a level above. We were calm, composed and clinical in front of goal. All that without injured 10 players, of who 8 are arguably part of our best XI. Mental.
And now we have 10 days until our next league match. Hopefully we welcome back some returnees in the meantime.

We should re-name the Axa Training Centre to Axa Walk-In clinic.
That first half having seen the game now reminded me of a bit of how we were at their ground up to their goal.
I wasn’t able to watch live, carefully managed to avoid seeing any scores and watched it late last night. Luton at Anfield, right? Collect the 3 points and onward. Proved a little more worrisome until it wasn’t.
Three picks were
i) Van Dijk, for what may prove to be a milestone performance at both ends, plus he was engaging differently than he usually has over the past year and a half. Back to being the leader he can be.
ii) Bradley, just relentless, the Luton winger was forced to spend more and more time picking him up defensively - and as a result was a non-factor in the second half.
iii) MacAllister - great control of the game, especially in the second half. He genuinely surprised me, because I have not seen him as able to do that that far forward and simply assumed that he (as with many others) needs that extra 5-10 meters of space to read the game.
Feel for Luton, they have had a lot of these games now where they put in a good fight, and end up with nothing to show for it.

Weren’t their matches against Arsenal and City essentially like this? I think they got lucky when we played them away too, to an extent.
Luton are a plucky team that gives it a real go every game - I respect that a lot. Too many of these promoted sides just try to shithouse results against lower half teams and bend over for the top half teams. Luton have a style, a great fanbase, and what appears to be a good manager. They might end up going back down, but I reckon we’ll see them again in the PL before long.

Yeah they have generally not lost by more than one, 4-1 must be one of their worst results.

This season thus far, Brighton beat them 4-1, Chelsea 3-0, Villa and Brentford 3-1. All of these have come away. At home they’ve not lost by more than one goal except Sheffield beating them 3-1.

Yeah the Chelsea one I remember which was early on and Luton actually played ok that night.
Just give Everton another 30 point penalty
saw a gif of Harvey being absolutely knackered after the game. I love the boy and he obviously loves the club too. I can’t believe Jurgen’s leaving such a beautiful foundation (that he set up mind you) behind.
I just hope we win this darn league and gives him the send-off of a lifetime.
Am I crazy to be so emotional about this team?
YNWA!

Other than the fact that we put them away more thoroughly, very much so.

Quansah, Clark, McConnell and Danns joined Harvey in his goal celebration. Average age? I don’t know. But then Cody Gakpo joined and it felt like he is the James Milner of the group
