Post match: Liverpool v Man City (EPL 11/10/26 4.30pm)

There will be other occasions when we will go a player down and being able to adapt to it is important for next time.

You are really missing the point.

@Flobs
Apologies for repeating myself.
Yesterday’s circumstances were different.

I just can not see it as different. We have had to deal with cheats from Manchester for so long and corrupt refs for even longer. This unfortunately is part and parcel of being Liverpool.
Just because recently Chesty were declared corrupt didn’t change anything for me we knew they were since they were taken over by whoever it is.
What’s different from the other times we’ve played these scum?

At this point, I don’t even see the point of us taking the field against this scum.

What’s the point of fighting against a predetermined set of circumstances that are frequently physically impossible to deal with given our comparatively meagre resources compared to that of the opposition?

And by opposition I mean the opposing team plus the referees. It’s impossible to combat that with anything resembling a fair team from our side.

So I’m afraid this prevailing argument that it is what it is and we have to deal with it on the pitch has run its course.

I cannot apportion any blame on the players when this is the set of circumstances they’re facing.

This particular fight has to be fought and won off the pitch before the playing starts.

Isak getting criticised when he didn’t play is some bollocks.

We were very much in the match until the red card. Against cheats.
We may have gone on to win the match until that moment.
In any other circumstances, that may galvanise the team, but yesterday it knocked the stuffing out of everyone. Because it seemed inevitable that you cannot succeed against cheats.

I can’t explain it better, the psychological low that those players must have experienced at that moment. It isn’t remotely comparable to any other game.
They didn’t crumble, as you put it. They were crushed.

I’m repeating myself, but at Anfield people were laughing when Grav got sent off. Like what is even the point. Why are we here. What are we doing with our Money in our time if this is what is being presented to us as a fair playing field?

They crumbled under the crusher :winking_face_with_tongue::rofl:.

I know its not worth getting wound up about it, but I am a loss to explain so much of the analysis and discussion of yesterday’s game that I’m hearing. So much of the coverage is describing the eventual result as inevitable with the way the game was going (?) and that the sending off was an almost convenient excuse for a team that had shown no answers to the challenge of city. It’s most extreme sense of “scoreboard analysis” ive seen in a long time.

The other bit that is winding me up is people just waving away complaints about the red by treating it as an isolated incident out of the context of the game. And by context I dont mean the ref having a responsibility to keep players on the pitch for a big game, I mean the context of the way he had already reffed it. Literally the only thing you can point to from this game as a marker for that sort of foul being worthy of a booking was Grav’s own first yellow card.

If these start next season in the PL I’m done. Lucky enough to have had a ST for over 30 years.
If I’m honest I’ve been looking for an out for some time. It’s not enjoyable anymore with all the other bullshit like corrupt refs and VAR, international breaks where we lose half our team etc. Only thing that’s kept me there is I sit next to my lad.
But enough is enough. I’m not parting with the best part of a grand to watch this fucking nonsense.

On yesterday’s events. I want these cunts ground into oblivion more than I’ve ever wanted anything. Not just punishment, anything short of ceasing to exist wont be enough for me now.
Watching the BBC local news tonight, it was dressed up as some sort of City masterclass. No context given re. the sending off, anyone not knowing how things panned out could be forgiven for thinking Grav got sent off after 92 fucking minutes or something.
Then showing an interview with that fucking shithead manager talking about ‘making their own noise’ and some fucking dickhead supporter laughing and joking about the banana’s. All having a fucking right laugh.
No humility, no contrition. Fuck all. I want these fucking burnt to the ground.

If they’re gonna act like all the way fans acted yesterday and these are supposed to long time season ticket holders. Then I do not feel an iota of sympathy for any one of them. They can burn that club to the fucking ground.

The reaction after the final whistle was nauseating. The bench and players showed zero humility or concern about their criminality or the prospect of any meaningful punishment. They have known the verdict for months now and I just wonder if they haven’t already been tipped off about the punishment too. I still feel sick and the disgraceful red card isn’t even part of it.

I think the other PL clubs need an emergency meeting to discuss approaching the PL with some ultimatums over the correct punishment for City. Expulsion from the football league and owners declared unfit is the correct way to go.

What people have to realize any retroactive punishment. Whether demoted or titles taken away. Doesn’t impact this year.

So if The Cheaters win this season’s title. Its still a title win. So the City’s current players, coaches etc will still enjoy that success.

So why would they care about next season or beyond? Why would they feel embarrassed about the charges? If they get demoted next season, most of the players will find a new club, like the mercenaries they are.

What i want is for:

ALL THE REMAINING CLUBS TO MAKE SURE THE CHEATERS DONT WIN THE TITLE THIS SEASON. BY TAKING POINTS OFF THEM.

Me talking about my experience yesterday with my missus

Me: “ so the ref didn’t like he was going to book Gravenberch but then Haaland went up to him waving an imaginary yellow card and then he pulled out the yellow card and gave Grav the red.”

Wife: “Haaland plays for Liverpool, right?”
