Post match: Liverpool v Man City (EPL 8/2/26 4.30pm)

Does anyone know what our penalty shout was before the debacle at the end? I saw someone saying it was a foul on Chiesa.

He made the only viable sub he couldn’t make. Robbo can only play left back and Kerkez was probably our best player.

Endo is coming on on that game. He just isn’t good enough.

Let’s be honest. slot has been left with a very, very weak bench.

He could have used Robertson, Jones, Endo, Chiesa and Ngumoha. Instead of refreshing the team when it was obviously required and to break up the tempo, he allowed Ekitike, Wirtz and a few others barely able to walk to play the full game.

It’s terrible management yet again. His use of the bench is a sackable offense on its own.

There was Robbo, Endo, Jones and Chiesa. All of which are pretty senior players. Robbo could have played LW to shore up the left side. Endo could have played at midfield where Macca can be rested. Ditto for Jones. Chiesa on the right for Salah or even on the left for Gakpo.

Curtis Jones. Obvious sub. Waited until after we conceded to make it. Had it been done at 80min, our midfield shape would’ve been better.

Then there’s Andy for experience.

Making a sub to replace a tiring player, getting instructions on, slowing the game down, etc. You know, game management.

We conceded late goals. Slot has mentioned tome and time again we tire in the final few minutes. And yet he doesn’t trust certain players.

Yeah Jones is an obvious one it doesn’t seem to make.

Why would we have to sub on players when we are winning and playing well? They played a game 4 days ago, our players should have been able to handle the extra exertion compared to them.

The game was lost by changing the system/tactics after going a goal up. The quality on the bench had nothing todo with that decision.

You say that like any criticism of him or calls for him to be removed are horrifically unfair. I’m looking really, really hard and I’m struggling to see what positives I’m supposed to be clinging to.

We are 25 games in and are closer on points to the relegation zone than the top of the league. We are track for 59 points.

VvD, Konate, Kerkez and Szoboszlai played well for the most part. Midfield and forwards were OK but not great. We probably deserved a draw but neither Salah or MacAllister played to the level they should be. Wirtz and Ekitike were OK as were Gravenberch and to a lesser extent Gakpo. Jones should be getting his game ahead of MacAllister and we need to find someone to replace Salah.

We tire in the final ten minutes of every game. Every. Single. Game.

In a lot of those games, the sub only comes on when we inevitably concede. Gassed players not being able to get tighter etc etc.

And the weakness of the squad is not something that Slot is entirely blameless for either. Could have Quansah and Elliott there - perfectly serviceable squad players - but he made it very clear he wanted nothing to do with them.

Still think his treatment of Quansah was fucking shameful.

Disagree. They were a bit better than us in the first half but we dominated them for most of the second.

Well, that break the players had this week worked out well. They still collapsed after 75 minutes.

Losing Dom is a huge blow for us.
We have Sunderland next week on their turf and they are no mugs

Quansah, Elliott, and even Morton.

Morton is bossing Ligue I, the same league that we just burned €60 mil to buy a CB.

They were better in the first half, we were better in the 2nd half until they equalised

Everton will be above us on Tuesday evening, if they beat Bournemouth.

Hmmm, were you watching a different match? We were pinned in our own half almost the entire 1st half, nevermind the first 1/2 hour.
