Post match: Liverpool v Man City (EPL 8/2/26 4.30pm)

After a grim 1st 30min we controlled some of the game but not enough. Ekitike missed a sitter, Alisson gave away a needless penalty and Dom played their 2nd goal onside cos he’s not a right back. On another day those things don’t happen.
Our bench and strength in depth is what worries me. City had so much more to bring on from the bench.

Sorry i meant 2nd half! :see_no_evil_monkey: i was finishing off cooking Alloo saag (potato and spinach curry) :woman_facepalming:t4:

Im not sure why people care about stuff like this so much. We are having a shit season I really only care how far we are off the CL places.

They can stick it on a DVD for all I care.

We need that recipe…. Makes a change from Korma..

I have corrected myself :woman_facepalming:t4:

its an interesting one that, because last season that player was almost a cheat code for hanging onto a result… so has the player digressed that much? is he in a crisis of confidence? or is he actually usuable in certain situations and Slot just refuses to recognise that? how much is due to bad rotating the squad when you look at a bench and just assume you cant use players?

its an interesting discussion… someone mentioned Rio further up, and for sure, Rio for Gakpo isnt a ‘fantasy’ shout, the kid can play and can really tie up the left hand side… i mean, we lost the game anyway…maybe hes protecting the player a bit…but even then, maybe the shackles have to come off.

It’s not Playstation. We didn’t lose because of not making substitutions.
We lost from defensive errors and beaten by a team with better options for changing the game

Didn’t know that you can win a game in Playstation by making subs, nice of you to let me know.

Squad players don’t need to be world beaters to make a difference. Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams are fucking rubbish but Klopp gave them the confidence to go out and play. Federico Macheda snatched a league title away from us and he was useless.

Slot writes off his squad players. Tyler Morton said he felt like Slot didn’t rate him at all, and I’d be pretty confident in guessing loads of other lads would say the same thing.

He hasn’t used his resources well enough, there’s no getting away from that.

City didn’t play a low block game so what’s the excuse for this one? The ref? The players? Tactics? Slot’s bald head?

There is a point to make these players haver been used when he could have used them. Jones and Endo certainly could make that point.

His stubbornness around certain players concerns me. They might be shit when they come on now but that’s because they haven’t had any game time.

The reports emerging that Jones was seriously considering leaving lend even more credence to that. He’s a player you would imagine would only be pushing for a move due to feeling like the coach wants him gone. Particularly he seems to have issues with the academy developed lads which is especially bizarre.

On the pitch I think it’s visible how much the players don’t trust themselves or the system. Everyone looks fed up, everyone looks miserable.

He weakened his own bench.

I thought we were unlucky to lose this game. Probably deserved a draw at worst.

City was superior in the 1hf but without creating chances…

We adjusted in the 2hf and dominated. Deservedly going ahead. And we kept the momentum, dropping back when we needed to…

Then came the familiar defensive mistakes.

Dropping too deep

I don’t think a game against City should the final straw. They are actually quite good.

It might also be that they are just shit.

So Endo and Jones are shit then? Because they’ve shown not to be shit in the past.

You know what is currently shit. Our performances.
