Post match: Liverpool v Man City (EPL 8/2/26 4.30pm)

I understand what you mean, but… seriously… we’ve only managed six Premier League wins since September. At some point, we have to stop talking about bad luck and so on and accept that it’s simply not working out.

It’s flipping depressing tbh

Correct, that should have been Burnley.

Last game Endo played from the start he was boss. Can’t remember who we were playing.

There’s multiple reasons why its not working, both from on field and off field issues.
Not to add the small matter of the strategic decision to transform our championship winning team.

Some of it is within the control of the manager. Some of It i would argue is outside his control.

But what is clear is that our current circumstances, all things considered is that a manager cannot become bad this quickly…

Jones isn’t shit. He came on today.

The fortress of Anfield has become a playground for the opponents, that is unforgivable.

But you said they were shit, I mentioned Jones in my original post.

What say has Macillster done to merit a place in say the last 3 months?

If Curtis departs before Slot there’ll be fucking murders.

I do not understand that people do not rate Endo at all. He is a Japanese international. He reads the game well, and have killer through ball.

Oh well, most likely that I do not understand the game.

Talking about subs why didn’t Jones get on at 1/2 time both Macca and Graven were terrible in the 1st half. Macca seemed to keep it up in the second.
Salah doesn’t look capable at all anymore :sad_but_relieved_face:!

The disrespect for our squad players, all because Arne decides never to use them, is staggering and it saddens me greatly.

  1. The squad overall is worse than last season. I can only assume this is step one of the squad rebuild. Otherwise, adding Wirtz, Ekitike, Isak, Kirkez, Frimpong, Leoni alone no way makes up for the combined loss of Jota, Diaz, Nunez, Elliott, Quansah, and Tsimikas.
  2. Slot’s plans are simply not working to win, even draw games. They might work for some time and then fall apart, causing us to lose leads, or just lose matches.

Yes, Hughes has things to answer for but so does Slot. I don’t have confidence in him taking a new squad forward.

Slot cannot bemoan his bench options, he was happy enough moving on Harvey, Kostas, Quansah, Morton, Darwin, Diaz etc in favour on bringing in a few megastars.

Klopp had to deal with similiar benches and didn’t hesitate to use them when he felt it was needed, very rarely did they let him down. The EFL cup final a few years ago being one. Endo Harvey Quansah Kostas were all more than adequate squad players for Klopp, the minute Arne walks in he suddenly has no use for them? We’re not in a position to have a bench littered with £40-50m players. It’s not great man management.

All well and good, but we have to stop making excuses all the time, it is so annoying meanwhile. Something has to change quickly. Because it’s clear that things aren’t getting any better this way; we’ve been watching this drama unfold for months. We take two steps forward and then, unfortunately, three steps back. I just feel sorry for the players now, because it sometimes seems like they simply don’t know what to do.

Yip. At some stage we need to ask some major questions about our conditioning.

With Jurgen there was absolutely no question about losing energy, all the questions were about the injuries because of the conditioning. We now have injuries and a team that can not last 90 minutes.

Yeah , that’s the big issue, isn’t it. He had a strong squad last season and deliberately weakened it as it seems.

To be fair, the numerous medium- and long-term injuries haven’t helped in that regard.

Still, he had a strong squad with players who had the good habit not to get injured and to give their all for the team when called upon. He and his bosses Hughes and Edward’s deliberately disrupted Klopp’s legacy which served us so well last season, and dismantled the squad. We see the result.

Nothing to expect for this season, apart from the near 100% certainty that Slot’s days are now numbered. I fully expect him to be gone in the summer.

For the game, we had a very good spell in the first thirty minutes of the second half ( the first half was shite). When we scored, we looked odds-on to win the game. But for some unknown and incomprehensible reason, our players gave the initiative back to the Cheaty players. Very strange… if Slot gave that order, he deserves to be pilloried.

I said the bench collectively is shit. Jones is obviously a good player. The rest are too young, never good enough or, bizarrely, not even an outfield player.

Slot should be able to turn to his bench and replace quality with quality. That’s what the top teams can do.

He is stuck in a vicious circle, because he has nothing to turn to he is having to run players for longer and longer, so they are getting tired. That also probably means he is having to lessen training load to allow players more recovery.

I thought that Jones should have been on earlier, but on that pitch you had Salah, Mac Allister, Gakpo who all needed replacing because they weren’t delivering, and later in the game Wirtz, Ekitike, Szoboszlai and Gravenberch all tired. Which one are we sending Freddie Woodman on for?

I’ve stopped watching press conferences; I’m afraid of getting an annoyrism or something.

The problem with folks like you is that you don’t allow yourselves to think. Every issue is black or white.
Every point you don’t like is an excuse.
It doesn’t work that way
