Post match: Liverpool v Man City (EPL 8/2/26 4.30pm)

And the problem with you is you’re arrogant enough to think perspective only lies with you and everyone else lacks context. Hint: you’re wrong.

I’ve been asking questions about our conditioning for months.

I don’t think that all down to Slot. They were some rumours that he didn’t want Diaz to go, but the club thought the money was too good to turn down. I don’t think he would have been happy to let Quansah go had he not been told Guehi was done.

Endo is alright, but he is a 33 year old limited midfielder who should not. Liverpool’s sixth choice midfielder.

I always liked Harvey, but in the back of my mind I had a feeling that despite his quality he was too small and too slow.

Slot will have some say in the process but I think Hughes is steering the ship on recruitment. It was interesting on that round table video that Slot, while wrapping it in praise and complements, made it very clear they were Hughes’ signings.

Outside the goalkeepers we have 16-17 players that Slot feels happy using, and five of them are injured.

oh, easy peasy…folks like me, well, well, well.. isn’t it wonderful to think like that. I am usually a very positive person tbh, but I even needed a flipping break from all this but just because “folks of you” btw. It’s just not funny anymore., I am sorry, please ignore me next time.

Aneurysms aren’t that funny either tbh

Yes, it was supposed to be an annoyrism, but my autocorrect didn’t understand that.

Sorry

Come on now. I don’t want to be going back and forth in every thread but Slot forced Quansah out. He came into a squad where he had a home grown 21 year old who had forced his way in as a starter at CB for both club and country under the previous coach. Absolute dream scenario. Within 45 minutes he gave up on him, publically lambasted him, benched him for half the season then brought him back a handful of times as a RB. He did absolutely everything he could short of banning him from practice to tell Quansah he had no role here. Guehi was not part of that calculation.

Without being in the dressing room its hard to say for sure but from the outside I’d say his treatment of Quansah was close to bullying. He picked the youngest lad in the team and decided to make an example of him. Not surprised all the local lads have either left or are trying to go.

Nonsense…

Endo is more than capable,

he could have easily come on at RB and Dom move into the midfield for either Macca or Grav who where both poor again today.

Endo could also easily come on for Grav,
and he would play like he wants to win the game

reminds me of the time Rodgers pulled up a very young Raheem Sterling in front of the camera’s to show that he was the boss

Slot on conceding another late goal:

“It’s every time a different goal, of course. Just before that moment when they scored the 2-1 we went with Curtis [Jones] in a very promising situation, Mo went deep, Curtis is such a special and good player on the ball, so there was a fair chance he would have maybe eight out of 10 times [found Salah]. Guehi had a great interception, a great signing for them. [He] had a great interception in that moment and that is how the margins between these teams are and were today.

No I don’t think perspective only lies with me.
But I also don’t football always lends itself to simplistic conclusions

Well, that’s one way of looking at it. Here is another.

Quansah did really well in Klopp’s final season, but mistakes and complacency were creeping into his game and he was scene of crime for a lot of goals and mix ups.

He started the season ahead of Konate, but Slot was right to take him off at half time. He was getting dominated physically and just wasn’t in the game.

After that Konate did absolutely nothing that would justify taking him out of the team.

Sure, Slot could have given him more chances to make the kind of mistakes a young centre back is inevitability going to make along their development pathway. Personally, I’d rather we just won the fucking league.

After that, for Quansah, it’s a case of do we take a lad who is clearly full of potential but needs games and tell him he is playing as fourth choice and let his development stall, or let him go to a team where he’ll be able to develop under less pressure in such a way that we can get him back if we want to.

I feel absolutely certain that Quansah is going to be a Liverpool player again. And a really good one. But there was no chance of him reaching his potential if he’d stayed.

Rio for Gakpo, Endo for Macca, Jones for Salah (push Sob forward), Robbo for Kerkez or Gakpo…Nyoni much later for Wirtz, the list of possibilities is there…

i think deep down you know the bench isnt as bad as you are trying to make out…your just not willing to put it out there on internet land yet…

probably wouldnt bring Woodman on…

No, don’t tell me what I know deep down. Our squad depth isn’t good enough.

You are so much better than this.
