Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 17/12/23 4.30pm)

A lot of tired legs and minds on that pitch today, which is hardly surprising given the time of year and the schedule we’ve had. A number of players seem to have found ways to play them ourselves out of form at the same time which is a bit frustrating, this team isn’t yet good enough to carry so many passengers. The returns of Jota, Thiago and Robertson cannot come soon enough.

Still, don’t think this result is as disastrous as people are making out. We remain in a good position and favourable results in the next two will set us up nicely heading into the new year.

I haven’t given up on him, but does annoy me that people talk about him like he’s Ben Doak’s age. Darwin is same age as Salah was, and older than Suarez was, when they joined us

Arsenal now is a must win. More dropped points at home to them would really punch the air out the lungs.

We are one point off first place with the leaders coming to Anfield next weekend, and we arguably have an easier second half than they do.

With both Arambat and Mainoo on yellows in the first half, and doing man marking jobs, we should’ve looked to exploit that more in the second half.

The first round of subs helped Man Utd to get some breathing space.

This United team is shite and that is why it hurts so much we could not take the three points … they were so bad, especially in the first 20 or so minutes, but we just did not take our chances …

I don’t think we looked tired - we came roaring out the traps. Most players hadn’t played in a week. We just looked utterly lacking in guile.

When did Suarez blossom for us?

Best moments are coming when one of our players commit and go past players and that mainly came from our midfielders.

Our forwards, can’t beat a man and always come inside when there is space outside, too predictable, they aren’t offering a potent force atm. They either slow the game down, give the ball away or pass to the opposition, completely opposite from the beginning of the season when all our front men were scoring.

We have to also get back to the pass a move with vertical passes which we seem to have stopped doing, maybe that is because Mac is missing.

Appalling performance. We have been lucky with results in the previous matches. Nunez needs to control his temper and be more focused. I just don’t know what happened to Mo, he must have left his shooting boots at home.
The only positive I can see, we didn’t lose against Utd, but we really need to get our act together and be more clinical with our shots on target and we are quite more at the moment.
It will be even tougher against Arsenal next week as they are on form at the moment.
Hope our injured lads come back soon.
What is done is done, we prepare better for the next game.

How long did it take MO, Bobby and Mane to gel… our forwards are still trying to play catch-up to the almost telepathic understanding we are used to seeing from our past forwards… Hopefully it will eventually arrive, until then we have to be patient, or decide to change some of the players up

Arsenal are a much better side than Utd. We’ll have to turn our form around in six days, with a game in between.

Front 3 were absolute garbage

Missing Jota big time, Salah miles off his early season form…Diaz and Nunez not even going through the motions

Benefit of hindsight Gakpo should’ve come on much earlier for Nunez as there was very little space behind the Utd defense to run on to…

not just blossom but started taking over games in his 2nd season

I think it was PeterRoberts who said it in the match day, just far too many players off form & I think in part is down to this system. We’ve not managed to make it click. The results have been great but the performances largely disjointed.

We look & have always looked far better with overlapping fullbacks.

Diaz Nunez Mo Szobo Grav just incredibly poor, all on different wavelengths, playing far too apart from eachother.

Suarez had 25 goals in his first 45 games Nunez has 13 in same amount of games.

So must be the end for Nunez, midway through his second season…

Hahahaha Roy Keane throwing a hissy fit at Virgil saying “only 1 team came to play”, basically reflecting away from Utd being dismal and Virgil speaking truths.
