Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 17/12/23 4.30pm)

You can’t have defenders head and shoulders above the rest as the best players. You can’t be so bad going forward and expect to keep winning. We’ve been papering over the cracks with the late turnarounds but it was never going to last. The forwards are bringing the team down. One is injured and the others are in piss poor form simultaneously along with perhaps the best midfielder.

Very disappointing result and most worryingly there is no sign of an immediate improvement.

Shit happens.

Move onto the next.

There will be more twists and turns this season. Nobody is looking solid in all areas consistently.

Totally piss-poor from all involved that I don’t think the January transfer window will help at all.

The inverted nonsense has to stop pronto. TAA coming infield is not gonna help if he is not going to do switches and worsens the lack of width on the right hand side given how Salah tends to cut in from wide. Dom or Endo can cover for TAA when he goes forward. This is more glaring given that Tsimkas is not the same quality as Robbo.

Diaz after his injury somehow stopped taking on defenders which is very disappointing as the overlapping full-back will be there to pick up after him if he loses the ball. If that is tactical, Pep Ljinders and Klopp needs a hard look on themselves. If that is physical issue, perhaps Gakpo need to be fielded in place of him.

Salah is transitioning to a creator type of player. However, it fucking doesn’t work when there is no one running past him. Again, it is a tactical issue.

Darwin Nunez is infuriating today. Offers nothing with his movement and his decision-making, somehow couldn’t stay onside and somehow failed to chase after the ball once Diaz is wiped out.

Our midfield flatters to deceive when there is literally no runners into the channel, stretching the game for Man united’s midfielder.

If the above I said are all due to tactical issues, I would expect a huge change in the coaching personnel bar for Klopp at the end of the season.

Good listening to Klopp and agree, overall you can’t knock the effort it is the quality and decision making we are lacking

Hope Liverpool had someone watching Keane slag off Virgil. Need Jurgen to hit back here!

Why the fuck would VVD care that Liverpool won nothing for 30 years, all he knows is United has been shite and he won the lot while he was here at Liverpool.

If he was regressing it would be a fair point. No other striker would have let that ball run dead today they all would have tried to get a shot in.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports, on how his side dealt with talk it would be a one-sided home win: "I think you overestimate your influence - we couldn’t be bothered what you say. It has nothing to do with what happens, we knew it would be difficult…Klopp

I think the beginning of the season showed an improved Nunez.
Goals return was not bad, and had good numbers, sort of showing that Klopp wanted him to do so much more than score.
Then didn’t really build on that.

I really don’t see why he is singled out today. He wasn’t good enough, yes, but neither were a lot of players…

Unfortunately, that was sort of the match I expected. I was hoping it would be one with a 1-0 or a 2-0 scoreline, but it was not to be. Our attacking play is still very Goldilocks, hot then cold.

Today its letting the ball run out on the 6 yard line its just inexcusable its not like he tried he let it run out. Not a chance Jota lets it run dead.

Yes, Curtis and Harvey coming on in the middle (rather than what happened) would’ve been much better. We wouldn’t have lost control for that 10 minute spell with our midfield two being exposed, and they would’ve better progressed the ball.

With everyone back defending for United at most times, we needed to keep the mobility in midfield, especially with United’s two defensive players on yellows.

So, as I said, Endo was fine, but I feel that the other two would’ve allowed better passing and movement that we needed.

The threat from United was just the counter, and Endo on a yellow is not really needed in that situation.

I understand But still playing poorly.

The subs were terrible for a home game…Taking out two attackers for Jones and Elliott. I understand the Elliott one but the Jones one is a head scratcher.

Probably because that appeal for a nonn-existant pen when the ball is just rolling away with an unguarded net is truely a wtf moment.

Nunez is in terrible form. Since he dropped we’ve struggled to create chances. The system needs looking at.

Gakpo could have been given a run if he hadn’t been awful all season, but he’s looked hopeless in the league.

That midfield 3 isn’t good enough in the build up either.

Didn’t think we’d look good today and so it proved. Need a re-think as we are struggling to create enough chances now.

Fair enough. It is inexcusable.

I think we played badly today. Nunez included.
Let’s agree to disagree whether the reason we drew today was solely Nunez or not.

Got to give Utd credit. They know they’re shite and came with a damage limitation plan. It worked because we couldn’t find a way through. I wouldn’t be too hard on the lads, Utd’s ambitions were very limited.

It was. It really was.

All I’m saying is that there’s a lot to be puzzled about for today’s result than just Nunez, let alone to condemn him that he won’t be any good.

entire front three been shit now for a while, gakpo included
