Glad I didn’t get up at 3 am.
Had a feeling it would go this way. We haven’t played well lately and it was obvious what Man U’s tactics would be.
If we had a good alternative on the right wing, I wonder if Mo would be better centrally where he could use his goal scoring instincts. He doesn’t seem able to burst past the full back any more.
Very concerned about Darwin and Diaz. Both are way off form and seem unable to regain it.
I hope we play the kids v West Ham.
Disappointing!
Attack really sloppy!

Exactly. United were utterly dire. They played like Stoke or West Brom. Now it’s incumbent upon us to break them down, so that’s on us. And give them credit - they came with a plan to park the bus, did that, and came away with an unexpected point. But make no mistake, even though I’m reading about how awful we were, we were miles better than them.
Football is about narratives. Had Kanote struck two yards either side of Onana, or Big Virg not headed it straight at the goal, this forum would be awash with talk about how great it is to stick it to the Mancs and us winning the title. Everyone’s player ratings would have been at least 1 higher. But they misfired, and now it’s all about how our midfield and strikers are shit and we can’t win the league.
More than any other sport, the gap between emotional perception and the reality of the performance is higher in football than anything else.

Yes, because that’s what I meant…
Took them ages mate. In their first season together they only scored 91 goals in all competitions. Fucking shite really.

I don’t think or expect he will be comparable to Suarez, who was one of the best ever to wear a red shirt, and it wouldn’t be fair to expect that from any player. My point was only to say not every player is at his best from his first (or even one and a half) season.
With so many people not getting this simple point, I think I ought to have a word with myself and try to get my point across better…leaving legends out of it would be a very good first step. I just mentioned it because I do remember something about Suarez’s conversion rate being criticized in his first season, and people saying he would shoot too much, then really being referred to as top class forward’s conversion rate in subsequent seasons.
I don’t really understand the meltdown here. Yes I’m very angry and frustrated as well, not scoring with 34 shots against a mid table dross is not good enough and after the games we had recently just builds on the frustrating period we have had offensively. Still we were not pisspoor. Nunez is not a waste of space. All the talk about the title in december is just idiotic.
It seems like some posters here are really suffering with some sort of entitlement of winning every game and playing beautiful football while at it. We have never been able to do that, we have had these games before where we create a ton of chances and are not able to convert the chances to goals. Still the most important thing is that we are creating those chances and that we have been defensively sound.
We should not be focusing on the title at the moment, it is never won in the first half of the season and for now the most important thing is to be close to the top and build momentum for the second half of the season. What we need to do as fans is to get behind the team and the players and not focus on too much of the negatives. Yes its frustrating that we did not win today, but I’m much rather in the position we are now as a team than where we were last year when we beat them 5-0.
The Liverpool 2.0 project has just begun and we need to be patient with them. Maybe some here should watch the games from January last year again to be reminded of how much progress we have seen this season.

This. Maybe I should have just said this.
Even when we had Phillips and Williams playing CB, we still played attacking football and under Klopp we haven’t ever parked the bus that I can recollect.
Nunez is a dud. The sooner people realise that the better. I don’t expect him to score again this season. He’ll be gone in the summer when we hopefully look to revamp the attack as the one we have is totally incohesive.

it is what it is…up to us to make more in the final third in these type of games.
not the first time a Klopp team has struggled in a ‘slower’ game with the opposition happy to wait patiently for a chance (or even IF a chance comes) and wont be the last. part of the package with Klopp, a guy that loves the adrenilan and riding waves of emotions…when the emotion is taken out of the game it can be a harder Lock to pick.
had UTD been any better they might have made more of one of those ‘half’ chances…but lets face it, if they were any better they would have come to play…its a self fulfilling prophecy sometimes…play like your not good enough to go toe to toe…and your confidence and belief will match (Hello Jose)
not sure where the praise for Endo is coming from…looked slow, sloppy in possesion, another yellow in the first half and offered nothing apart from sheilding a back four that possibly didnt need sheilding.
not attacking the player, but you shouldnt be winning MOTM polls just because you put in a bit of effort…but i suppose football is all about opinions…

Let’s see how this one will age…
It will be interesting to see what we do. Today’s game was crying out for the creativity of a player like Wirtz at Leverkusen.
Well, I’m trying to figure out how often your gimmick worked and the 1-1 prediction resulted in a 3-0 win, and how often it actually backfired and ended up in a draw (this time goalless, though)…
Couldn’t see the game, but if at the start of the season, I had been offered that goalless draw against this lot, I’d have taken it. They are quite shite at the moment, but our lads aren’t at their peak either. And apart from a few recent drubbings, the games against them tend to be dull and boring.
Let’s take the positives: no goal conceded, and overwhelmingly dominant stats. On another day, we would have scored a goal in the first half, and we’d have won it. On the other hand, we could have been punished with a late goal against us or something, as we didn’t manage to put the ball in the net. So, to take that point isn’t the end of the world by any means. But a big reaction against Arsenal will be nice of course.

Not referring to a Klopp team in particular, although I would argue that the 1-0 against City last year where Cancelo got spun by Salah was pretty close to a parked bus (given we were so open at that time). What I meant was if they were clearly superior and we were going to their place putting out a team full of kids with our best player suspended and a number of starters out, we would be foolish to not try to keep things tight and hit them on the counter.
We just go again.
We are still in the mix, but next week is vital.

Nope.
The crowd was very alive, the most alive all season. That was evident on the broadcast.
