Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 17/12/23 4.30pm)

That’s not what I think of a parked bus. What I think of a parked bus is 5, 6, 7 players lining up on the backline with little intent to play forward other than hitting the advanced man who holds up the ball and passes to oncoming players breaking forward.

Klopp’s tactics against ManC are a narrow 4-3-3 that takes away the passing lanes of the half spaces, making it difficult to allow ManC to break through the lines. But once possession is attained, then the team pushes forward into advanced spaces, giving the ball carrier options to move the ball forward. That’s not the tactics of a typical bus-parking, counter-attacking side.

Nunez is an issue. I just dont think he will ever be good/consistent enough. He clearly doesnt know what offside is.
Also in 2nd half when he thought Diaz had been brought down, rather than try and get the ball in the net (not saying he would’ve got it) he stopped to complain wanting a pen
Ridiculous.

All the forwards are out of form.

Diaz not been same since injury.
Gakpo poor for a while.
Salah out of form.
Nunez - typically eratic and out of form

Ill get pelters but id be for moving some of this lot on and bring in top quality. I dont think any of these bar Salah are good enough.

The midfield i get the inconsistently as its new and we have injuries.
Sozbo bang out of form and needs resting but now gravenvach could be out along with Mac (not even gonna mention Thiago) and the midfield looks a bit thin.

We had countless, mostly from wide areas. Ibou should’ve scored from 1 and Gakpo could’ve done better with the 1 he got.

13 comments post match & every one of them has been about Nunez  every week it’s the same, tell me you have an agenda without telling me you have an agenda.

Unfortunately, I have to go to a funeral next Friday. I think there’ll be more life in the mourners at the crematorium, than there was at Anfield today.

FIFY.

Not sure how Endo is so high on motm poll. Bar the last 25 minutes or so he was nothing better than average, giving the ball away needlessly by under hitting passes.
Our recent results have papered over poor performances. Today our result matched the performance.
Thought VVD didn’t put a foot wrong and Gravenberch grew into the game until his injury. Thought Diaz was starting to come alive and was surprised when he was subbed.

Salah and Gakpo having a personal duel on who can have the worst decision making on shooting from stupid positions was a highlight.

Actually Utd have been quite good on the road, it’s at home where the pressure get to them. Plus it’s never been a form game between us. It’s still not a loss. Feels like it but it’s a point.

I’ve had time to calm down, and it turns out I’m still fucking furious.

I was the one preaching about hubris, and twenty minutes in it was quite apparent that this is the worst United team to come Anfield in living memory. They were absolutely fucking gash. Embarrassingly bad.

And we didn’t lay a glove on them. Fucks sake.

Yeah because leaving a ball to roll dead its absolutely outstanding isnt it.

It’s about as outstanding as repeating yourself 13 times. :man_shrugging:

Not as good as you having no answer to it. No goals in 10 games is fact 2 goals in 16 is fact. What ever way you want to gloss it over hes not good enough.

It’s no good complaining other people have an agenda. We’ve spent £60m on forward who can’t fucking stay onside. Everyone can have an off day, but you have to do the basics. Darwin is doing a great job of making sure everyone is moaning about Darwin.

I mean the MOTM poll is pretty spot on, it was between Endo and Virgil.

62 passes, 88% completion, 4 tackles, 3 fouls won, 9 duels won. 3 recoveries.

Gravenberch went missing for a 20-25 minute spell like he has done a lot lately.

I moan about everyone who isn’t good enough, there were 6 players out there today who weren’t good enough…what I don’t do is pick the same 1 player every week and moan about him with every other post but I concur he needs to be playing much better than he has over the last few months.

The fact the 2 CB’s and defensive mid are the 3 MOTM against a team with more or less zero ambition says it all.
Don’t know what the fuck has happened to Slobozslai. Gravenberch not much better.
Front 3 all poor.
Nunez is a problem. Doesn’t fit into how we play. Sooner the better Jota comes back.

Our starting midfielders’ ages

Endo 30
Dom 22
Gravenberch 21

Guess who was our best midfielder?

Chill, people.

What those stats don’t say is how slow and ponderous he was on the ball.

Our build up play through midfield today and at Palace was non-existent. Everyone moaning about the forwards but that midfield 3 is very weak with Szobzslai in the form he’s in and the other two not showing too much quality.

What’s the news on Gravenberch?

That’s true, stats will never paint the whole picture not that I’ve ever seen stats on players in relation to how quickly they move the ball but anyway, I think that’s something the whole team is guilty of at the moment… Diaz Mo Gakpo etc all looking to take 20 touches before making the final pass/shot.

Prime example was when Jones found himself with a shooting opportunity inside the box on his stronger side, does he open his body up create half a yard of space and lash the ball towards goal? No. Jones does what Jones always does and looks to take umpteen touches before cutting in and before you know it the chance is gone or another when Diaz opted to cut in despite all the space being on the outside, seconds later Dalot is getting the tackle in and again the chance is spurned.

Klopp bringing on Gomez first before Harvey or Jones signals to me he isn’t completely convinced with this set up, can’t remember the last time we turned up to the first half of a game.
