Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 5/1/25 4.30pm)

Might explain today but he’s not even played 500 minutes in all competitions and more than half have been in the League Cup.

Just doesn’t seem like Slot is that keen on him.

Until Konaté got injured Gomez didn’t have that many minutes either…

People are well justified having a go at Trent in my opinion. What was this at 2-2 and this wasn’t his worst pass. There were dozens more. You can’t be this poor - 0 tackles 0 passes if your head is in the right place. I am 100% sure he won’t sign and I don’t give a shit henceforth

So basically, your feelings got hurt because of the Real Madrid rumours so you’re throwing a tantrum and “dumping him before he dumps you”.

It’s very easy to ruin a young player’s confidence early in their career. It’s a balancing act with minutes to build him up and also protect him. Why change things when Konate and Gomez have been doing fine?
Yes Konate was gassed near the end of the match but it was the general performance today that was the issue.
There’s no way Arne puts in Ibou if he’s not 100% sure that he’s ready.

I don’t know if Trent is staying or not but I am certain that big Virg tore strips off Trent after the match.

Horrible conditions. Man Utd 50% better than all season, the frauds. If they played like that every week, or most weeks, they would be well in the top four fight. On our end we were 50% worse than the level we have been hitting.

Curtis Jones didn’t have a good game. He was a bit too ponderous and the context demanded more zip. We missed Szobo on that performance.

Trent had a poor game. It can happen to anyone, but the problem with an unsigned contract and all the Real Madrid noise is that it is tempting to think that he wants out and can’t be arsed. That’s probably unfair, but he did not cover himself in glory today, at all.

Bradley looked a breath of fresh air in the 10 mins he got.

Gomez’s hammy came at the worst possible time. He was playing well. Konate was brilliant before his injury but today’s game came slightly too soon. He did well enough, not tip-top but decent, but he was blowing out of his arse towards the end.

Still, with Quansah having one or two issues this season, coupled with a fired up Man Utd side going hell for leather, giving a not quite match fit Konate the nod over Jarrell was probably the right call.

Overall not great today, but we take the point and move on. After going 2-1 up we lacked the requisite control to see out the game, which was disappointing.

The one main positive is that we did not lose any ground to our likely closest challengers, Arsenal, who could only draw this weekend.

Six points ahead and a game in hand at the half way mark? I’ll take it!

We gave unnecessary too much balls away, that led to opportunities for United imo.
Concerning Trend, I don’t want to defend him, he had an abysmal game. Maybe he was distracted because of his contract negotiatons.
Hopefully he is back on track soon. There should be no insults or hatred. I think we will need him in a better shape for the rest of the season.

i tried, i may have skimmed alot of your content though as i lost interest in you making the same point over and over again and deflecting any comment as ‘maybe thats what Slot told him to do’…and also admitting you didnt watch the game that well due to your stream.

yes, maybe Trent was instructed to play further up the field, we are not idiots…we understand theres such a thing as a tactical instruction… but thats not the issue here, nor is his apparent lacksidasical demenour…

fact is, he was lost, and even if he was asked to play higher (than Robbo?, becuase Slot loves his formation unbalanced, eh?) he was basically running around like a lost boy, fouls in the middle of the park closer to the left, Dalot getting in time and time again, lost possession time and again…

he had a shocker…whatever slot asked him to do, ill bet he wasnt doing it …

hence he got hooked…hence hes getting pelters in the aftermatch thread…

sometimes the most simple explanation, is the true one…

now…if youve come in to suggest some of the criticism about ‘fucking off to Madrid’ is OTT, then im on your side…

but …yknow…his performance today wasnt great and it wasnt on Slot…

Quansah might play two games in a row and Slot has prioritised this game.

I don’t give a toss whether he signs or not. Give your best and if not atleast try. Look at him tracking back after giving the ball away with that pass - was there any Red shirt in the vicinity to receive the ball? After that Atleast run like your life depends on it as it’s 3 against 3. Just can’t digest his performance mate. It hurts. Something not right with him and I think it’s the contract talk. But my criticism has nothing to do with him for not signing. And in a lighter note if he continues with this defending and passing he would be lucky to even join Reading let alone Real Madrid.

I appreciate that but it’s not as if he didn’t play plenty last season and it’s really only that one mistake against United that I can remember.

He then starts him opening game of the season ahead of Konate and then we’ve barely seen him since.

Just struck me as a bit odd that Konate was rushed back into the side and played 90 despite clearly being knackered.

Doesn’t seem to trust Tsimikas either. Robbo’s on his last legs and keeps getting picked.

Not sure whether Tsimikas has fully recovered from his injury.

Always with the snarky remarks

You can’t ever not blame Trent.

Would you bet cutting any of your body parts on that?

Be honest.

If not, then you may as well put in “I don’t think” before the sentence, and a reasoning why you think so wouldn’t be too bad either.
The way you put it makes you look like you have inside information, or that it’s a given that this is how it happens in all cases.

Well.
That was somewhat, underwhelming

Because we were going to win by all sorts of scores.
Its stupid to underestimate them.

Its a draw on a weekend of draws by Chelsea and Arsenal.
But its still our poorest performance of the season. In my view.

It’s not always fair to blame him but it’s also fair to say he was woeful today. Far from the only one but certainly bad enough that it’s reasonable for his performance to be called out for what it was, extremely poor by his standards.
