Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 5/1/25 4.30pm)

With all the eagerness to blast Trent for their second Robbo getting beaten again by his mark getting in front him is getting lost

The spell before their goal was dreadful passing. Maca is visibly shown as saying calm down but they kept trying to make passes. We didn’t need to. We could have passed it around and then used Salah on the wing with a ball over or just recycled continuously. They weren’t going score if we had done that.

Slot even looked pissed off with it. Was like we were 2-1 down not 2-1 up.

We’ve at least got away with it but league games against Forest and Brentford needed a buffer.

I’m saying that’s the manager’s bloody job. Not Alexander-Arnold. Not Virgil van Dijk.

I wouldn’t expect that from any of our players, to disobey tactical instructions because they personally disagree with them. On the contrary, if they disobey them, then they have to take the responsibility for the consequences good or bad. But in this case, if it’s tactical instructions, it’s damn well Arne’s fault. Buck stops there.

Was exactly going to highlight this. Gakpo wasn’t doing much earlier too till his goal, but a goal shadows lot of bad performance. We don’t lose if it’s just one player who’s playing shit.

TAA had zero tackles in over 79 minutes played. Bradley played 11 minutes and had 3/3 tackles.

It really does feel like that. Complete mental funk.

Did he tell them to lazily pass the ball and try silly balls at 2-1 because that’s what caused the goal. As the whole team was out of place.

And it wasn’t the only time it happened 3-4 times.

I didn’t say it excuses it. I’m pointing out that the second goal wasn’t his fault, and my only contribution on the first goal is that both him and Gravenberch were well-positioned to prevent that, but he was behind the player. I’m not sure what he’s supposed to do in that instance, but doubtlessly someone can/will educate me. I’m more upset with Gravenberch not intercepting that pass, but it was a collective failure.

The best part? He was caught in no man’s land after doing some hollywood passes 2-1 up to a united shirt from which United rushed down prompting Konate to come out wide.

Robbo his partner in crime failed to track Amad…

Can you fucking imagine??

When you’re 2-1 up with 10min left, play some fuckin defense instead of going walkabout up the wing? He switched off when 3 United players were goalside of him. 2 points dropped, we should be closing that game out and he is still positioning himself like we needed a goal at that point.

Glad Bradley is back, that’s for certain. If he wants to go play with Jude, let him. I don’t see $350k/week value in his play after that performance

Yes, when we are dominant, not when the game was open like it was.

I’m talking about the “careless attitude which infuriates people” and “so cocky like he got a hattrick and we are sailing through”.

Has it ever occurred to you that if he didn’t attempt any of those crossfield balls it might just be tactical? That his passing was tactical? I give you the failure to stop the crosses, or the lack of tackles that someone else pointed out, but criticising him for passes I think is probably misplaced.

:bar_chart: Trent Alexander-Arnold didn’t win a single duel for #LFC during the 86 minutes he was on the pitch vs Man United.

It took Conor Bradley less than a minute to win his first duel after coming on to replace him.

Lively cameo from him. Great to see him back.

No but apparently if a bid comes in for you it’s all your fault if the team plays badly.

I wonder what the reaction to this performance would have been if the big news of the week was him signing a six-year contract with us.

Just coming away from Anfield now. Cold wet and slippy!…. Really poor performance from us and enough said about Trent by others without adding more to it other than it wasn’t just his defensive performance that was off. There was just no effort from him anywhere. Second to everything. Shocking
Ibou was not match ready and Nunez….WTF
2 points lost that we might regret

With this match, Slot will rotate the full-backs more often now with an eye towards finding proper replacements.

If TAA had 2 years left on the contract, Madrid wouldn’t even be remotely interested. The advisors to TAA played out TAA the same way these advisors gets played out by Madrid. All because RM wanted a freebie.

Fucking awful from us. The lads predicting a comfy easy cricket score were pushing the boat out, the Mancs were going to be up for this after their performance midweek, but I didn’t expect us to be that shite. Missed Szoboszlai massively I thought, Curtis quite poor but fuck me, take a bow Trent Alexander Arnold for seemingly not giving a flying fuck about your boyhood team you claim you want to captain. If he wants to keep playing like that, I’ll drive him myself.

Nunez as usual was fucking useless as well.

Bleh. At least we didn’t lose ground to the chasing pack. We go again. (Hopefully with Bradley at the back)

Defence let us down again. Their second goal was a carbon copy of the Leicester goal a couple of weeks ago . Just a basic cross and one of their forwards and three defenders. I’d take the 30 million and let Trent go tomorrow. He is a defensive disaster . One of the best passers in the World and been a great addition in the past but his head is not in Anfield and in Bradley we have a good replacement. The Utd boss will be a lot happier than Slott tonight.
