Post match: Liverpool v Man Utd (EPL 5/1/25 4.30pm)

So why did Slot take him off, players do have to think for themselves.

I just get lost how he is considered captain material, must be for his off the pitch application.

Then it’s his instructions not making it through.

Jürgen would agree, buck stops at him.

The team were collectively subpar, and I can’t remember who it is that mentioned how all the loose balls somehow seemed to end up with United today. Bad luck, bad weather, bad performance. This shit happens and yet somehow we’re feeling bad because we could have had all 3 points.

Against United.

We’re so privileged people are just losing their minds.

Trent had a mare…I can of course forgive that.

It was the ambling around like Rashford (good call @Limiescouse??) for their first that is infuriating everyone.

That was lazy and soft, and to be blunt, it was beneath him.

Welcome back Mick.

It most certainly is.

For me, Slot should’ve subbed him. All players can have off days. When you’re getting skinned by Dalot, the onus is on the manager to take action.

Throw, toys, pram.

Over the course of a season, Trent can elevate any team. And he has done exactly that over half the season so far. In a small sample of games, any player can turn into Djimi Traore (CL winner, bless him).

If our return brings out these sorts of performances from us, I might need to feck off again Sems!

A bit disappointed with that one. Shit weather, but we should have been winning this one. Mac, Gakpo and Salah did OK. Possibly the worst performance I’ve seen from Trent, aside from that game after he had Covid and looked like he had been hit over the head with a brick.

Looking at the positives, we have Konaté back, although I suspect he would have been a substitute if Gomez was fit; and Bradley’s 10 minutes were a revelation.

So are you correct or is @stevenalonso correct, because one of you is saying he was “doing some hollywood passes”, while the other is saying he didn’t attempt a single crossfield ball.

I’d lean towards the latter, because literally almost anything that comes from you is completely bullshite anyway.

Because they are idiots.

Again, that’s not on him, that’s on the manager.

Shit on him for the point about not winning duels nor tackles, but the rest of that, that’s not his fault.

I think for how poor TAA was in the game, our overall MF play was lacking enough control and guile. Clearly missed Szobo today

Proof in the pudding.

Managers have to trust the players to play the game. For 90min they are passengers.

For a defender to not protect the 2-1 lead, to have three opposition players goalside of you on the edge of the box… That’s terrible defending.

Heard Arsenal were interested in Nunez last summer. Won’t mind selling him. This guy is real average footballer. Slot needs to convert him into a CB if he wants to stay here for long. Think he will do well as he has the pace and height and will never find the back of the net - no own goals and lot of clearances.

Hollywood passes can be down the line as well, you know? At the match where united is so narrow, all of his balls were down the right flank…

Robertson is at least trying. His reactions are not the same anymore and he gets beaten a lot, but he’s there, he’s making the effort.

TAA is the exact opposite. He has proven that he can defend really well when he wants to. Although, to be fair his willingness wasn’t the problem. He just had a nightmare of a game; he did nothing right on both sides of the ball.

Slot should have pulled him a lot earlier.

So by your logic Gakpo was shit because the manager took him off.

@redalways, i give you credit mate… you have fought the good fight for TAA today with class and dignity. I applaud u sir! You have defended him better than he played defense today!!

I presume it’s for being a Scouser, and captaining the team in the way Gerrard was captain.

My guess? Probably the stat that he didn’t win any of his duels nor tackles.

If there was a round of matches where we could afford a draw, it was this one. Both Arsenal and Chelsea drew. City have lost too many so we can afford to let them pick up two points on us.
We clearly weren’t in the right headspace in this match. It happens. As long as we don’t let it happen too many times from now until the end of the season, we’ll be fine.
It doesn’t matter where we are in each season, matches vs Utd and Everton are never easy. That’s just the way it is. They are longtime and deep seated rivalries.
I’m sure we’ll learn from this and will be better going forward. And Mancs can also take points off Arsenal and Chelsea in their remaining fixtures.
