Last season is the same season that our key MFs needed to deputise at CB. Now, we solved the CB issue but it springs out the CM issue with Gini gone now…Can’t we do something obvious in the transfer market for sometime now???
Sadly nothing Gomez has recently done, nor Matip has done anything wrong for that change to happen. Infact I think Matip probably is the first name on team sheet in defense at present.
Disappointed, but glad that it’s out of the way now.
The whole lot seemed knackered and most of them will go for NT games. Klopp has to fall back on his backups. No use keeping Minamino, Ox, Keita, Gomez, Konate on the sidelines while the rest is running on fumes.
I know mate, I was thinking of top form Joe. He and Virg allowed us to keep that high line which also made life easier for our midfield by compressing the distances they had to cover at pace
Wish Klopp would make that 3rd sub in injury time. Ox or Keita for Curtis, then get Henderson to keep position rather than suicidal press in the 93rd minute, while the fresh player does the pressing and running back, and taking a Milner style yellow.
the sad thing is that Ali would have saved KDBs shot if Joel didn’t touch it
I don’t disagree but that’s not relevant to the point I’m making. I’m saying before the game I’d have taken a draw; instead of focusing on the things we could have done differently I’m content with a decent result against the second strongest team in the country. I’m not looking at this as dropped points because shiteh haven’t gained any and in all honesty both teams could look at this game as one they could have won
On the positive side, we’re the only unbeaten team so far.
But we’re racking up them draws, reminiscent of that 2009 Rafa season.
Problem then was scoring. Problem now is defending
Alison, Matip, Fab and Salah kept us in the game. Mane picked up in the second half. Second game Van Dyk looked very ordinary. Robbo looks so rusty and the games was too quick for Milner. Klopp should have definitely changed formation when Salah scored. It was evident we were being overrun in the mid and wings the while game and were a goal ahead due to brilliance of Salah. Ox for Jota, Konate for Jones/Hendo and we would have won.
Oh well, another night I’ll watch something else other than MoTD
we had no midfield… everytime they waltz through the entire midfield and were camping outside our box. A fit Thiago and Elliott would have made a huge difference but it is what it is
In his time here I don’t think he’s made multiple changes in one line (Def,mid,Fwd) when the game is in the balance. He nearly always makes max. one change in each line to ensure stability.
Didn’t see a tired performance. I saw two sides going hell for leather. Great game,
Because they can due to strength in depth. Our 2nd XI would get battered by City’s second XI.
Looking back on the City first goal, shame Ali lost his bearings slightly, and took one step too many towards the inside post. Still a good finish by Foden.
Are you going on the LC outing? Even Virg would look like Harry Maguire in that team.
I think outside that game he has been brilliant. I can only assume he’s not quite over his injury… Whatever the latest one is.
Praps it would have been different if Fab had have put his foot on the ball…defender would have slid into him…taken him out…pen…but no…so we go again…
The only positives was Salah who is having a god-like season, parts of the second half and the fact that we didn’t lose.
Once again too many players below their best, especially in the midfield which was a disaster. Klopp again refusing to adjust to what was happening on the pitch. Didn’t do anything to address the situation at RB and he got punished for it again.
Bottom line, it feels like we are riding Salah’s coattails with no one else even close to his best. And the midfield is becoming a matter of concern.
1 point is a good result today all things considered it could have gone either way.i believe if Trent was playing we would of won.lots of games left to play .
