Post match: Liverpool v Napoli (UCL 1/11/22 8pm)

Until they start handing out style points, it’s about getting the ball in the back of the net. Darwin may frustrate at times but he throws himself around and creates chances.

And when he comes in fresh against a defense that’s been playing for 60-70 minutes it is almost unfair for them physically

No I know it was for kicking the ball away, however maybe he had time wasted previously and I hadn’t seen it.

Seems odd looking at it to be honest.

I wanted to I was ready for it and went for a coffee and a walk at 7pm thinking yeah I’ll get back, then it starts raining heavy so I get stuck so only got back at 8.15pm

Thankfully it seemed nothing much had happened bar the early Curtis chance, however I did keep it on and as Spurs is likely the last game I will see before Boxing Day for us (others are not on TV, though May find a stream for Derby). I’ll be ready to go at 4.30pm on Sunday.

Some interesting comments from Klopp and I do 100% agree with how compact and solid we looked bar that spell just after their chalked off goal.

I think that was down to their changes and certain players were getting tired.

Only just saw the highlights.
Fairly impressive result, with a decent performance to boot.

Turns out we’re not shit, we’ve just played shit a few times recently.

Shit happens.

I thought we played rather well to be honest.

Reminded me of some of those games in Klopp’s third season when he was moving away from full throttle. Ones where we created enough and gave very little away. We jokingly had a situation at one where we’d give up 2 chance and concede one but if your doing that 2 is enough.

Leeds we’re making us do too much for a team that aren’t particularly playing well, same with Forest.

We gave Napoli a 10-15 minute spell and they didn’t create a lot from it, that is certainly how we have to be.

I forgot about the date and the clocks going back over there, so CBA getting up so early. Got up at 6:30 and was surprised to find the match still in progress!

Unfortunately, the Tottenham match will be kicking off way past my bedtime on Sunday night / Monday morning so I won’t be able to exert any influence on the score line.

I’m baffled how Jones isn’t winning the MOTM vote.

Ah, ok.
We must have watched a different game.
Apologies.

Over at our corner of the world, we say ghosts fear us more than we of them. :slightly_smiling_face:

Be stranger if everyone is playing each of Man City, Napoli and Newcastle as well. :man_shrugging:

For the 3 ‘offside’ goals they operated in a very black and white environment so credit doesn’t need to be given. The tech found the offsides, and corrected the linesmen when they got it wrong.

Just out of interest though, I do wonder if they would have called offside anyway on Napoli had it only been the most advanced attacker that was off. After all, Konate was drawn to the most offside player leaving the goal scorer free so it would be hard to argue that the more offside player didn’t influence play.

I do like the graphic they are using the CL as well for offsides since it helps with the confusion people are having with lines and camera angles.

Its not nice but I’ve nicknamed him ‘Calamity Fab’. I personally think it started that game last season where he was absolutely butchered by City. It was probably the first time in his career he was completely found out by the opposition.

What about Ian Dowie?

Is he involved in the World Cup?

If this is true then Fabinho needs to be dropped/rested or he has his sights set on the WC since the start of the season…

Fabinho 98 mins Tackles:0/2; Ground duels won:3/10

Bajcetic: 11 mins Tackles:2/2; Ground duels won:2/3

The world can see it, the coach certainly can, but there’s not much we can do about it except play him through it because he’s the same player as two years ago, but just in a terrible run of form. Plus we have no alternative whatsoever.

Oh, and Tchouameni days hi from sunny Spain.
