Post Match: Liverpool v Newcastle (EPL 1/1/24 8pm)

Loved them making us play towards the Kop in the first half I think the record is all wins bar one draw when clubs do that.

No he isn’t paid to score goals doesn’t do that.

Loved Diaz who played like he is free in his head again.

Dom lifted in the 2nd imo.

Some crucial intercepts and his passing got better.

I think he’s just young and tired…he arrived like a freight train in the most difficult league in the world. Was never going to be able to keep that up.

EDIT - d’oh…you’re probs referring to his injury.

Hopefully Szobo is ok

I don’t give a flying fuck if Nunez doesn’t score another goal this season for us but he gets 20 assists and we win the league.

Honestly, the hate for him is getting so boring now.

And he has 23 goals for us last time I checked. The hysteria is so silly.

‘Fans couldn’t wish for better match’

FT: Liverpool 4-2 Newcastle

Newcastle United

Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka to Sky Sports: “Crazy match. Both sides created chances. I was there to try to help my team-mates. Unfortuately they created so many chances and were clinical.”

On the penalty: "My arms are not trying to catch him. I don’t have to agree but at the end of the day it was a penalty.

"I think it was very entertaining for fans. They couldn’t wish for any better match. We tried to create chances and score goals but unfortunately they had more chances.

"You can see the desire from our team to get something from the match. It was a tight game in the first half but in the second half they created so many chances.

“You can’t doubt our togetherness and desire. Hopefully the results will come.”

Yes, he has a better goal per game ratio than Gakpo and Diaz, only behind Jota and Salah.

It’s not really hysteria is it? He’s missing so many 1on1s it’s almost comical. Of course people are going to talk about it!

Yeah the injury :joy:

Thank God some sense. I’m as frustrated as anyone with the misses and the offsides, but people seem to see past all the good he does and even if we win and he contributes, like today, he’s apparently shit…

Eddie Howe is a fucking blert. Absolute champion bellend. Claims minimal contact on our pens, but then says Endo literally not touching their lad is a pen.

You’re not good enough, Eddie. A managing a football team or lying.

Still haven’t forgotten this prick complaining that we played on while his lad was down feigning a head injury.

‘We feel hard done by’

FT: Liverpool 4-2 Newcastle

Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe to Sky Sports: "A lot happened. Action packed game. We’re disapointed with the way we defended.

"I didn’t think the second one was a penalty. And I did think Sean Longstaff’s one before that was.

"It shouldn’t be given. Martin has pulled his hand away. He’s had two steps before going down. For me it’s not a penalty. Even the first one the contact was so minimal. We feel hard done by.

"You have to have the mindset that you create your luck. Feeling sorry for yourself never has any positive outcome.

"The players gave everything. I back the quality of the group. In time we’ll get the results we need.

On Trippier and Wilson injuries: “Unclear. Fingers crossed they won’t be long.”

It’s just that people ignore the positives and focus on the negatives … that’s not the spirit, especially if he didn’t cost us and we sit top with only 1 loss (which only was a loss for refs blunders)
