Post Match: Liverpool v Newcastle (EPL 26/2/25 8.15pm)

I think Quansah played very well.

He’s probably finally getting to grips with Slot’s requirements.

While we still need another CB (even assuming Virgil stays) , Quansah getting back to some form augurs well for the future. We can take a younger CB , possibly from the academy like Chambers for instance instead of spending money getting an established one.

Not only Chelsea. They get to play Fulham and Everton as well. Everton in particular are in form and won’t be easy. Fulham is always a tough team to face up against too.

Another factor that we do play those two teams as well in our coming 4 fixtures but we’ve got the firepower up top. Arsenal don’t look like scoring goals. Their win against City , while it is a great result for them , made them look better than they actually are.

Plus add to the fact that United under Amorim somehow play better against the bigger names. It’s almost like those players give a fuck when playing against the bigger names while sleepwalking through the not so big names.

Arsenal can lose points in any two of the four games and their game in hand is counted out. Doesn’t need to necessarily be the Chelsea game.

Although, that should be our default position for everyone: we only buy players in if we haven’t produced one of sufficient quality.

I thought he was aright, but had an aversion to making decisions. You’re right he could have booked a couple of their players, but he could have also give a couple of ours yellow too.

The biggest error was the penalty shout on Salah. That was absolutely wild.

Although, at the same time, he could have played advantage on a few occasions. There was one occasion where I think it was Jota broke free from a foul and he blew up, wasting a golden attacking opportunity. I don’t think he even yellow carded the offending player.

I’d forgive him that one. I think he blows fractionally before Jota finally wriggles free, and it really was unexpected for him. It seemed like an age that I was shouting at the TV that he was being fouled.

I’d like to know how Guimares avoids getting booked.

There were atleast four yellow card incidents for him.

And don’t see how Salah gets a foul against him when he’s the one fouled whenHall trips up and fouls him. Don’t blame hall for tripping , but there was a foul on Salah before that as well in the box.

And Atwell refuses to play the advantage when we had a guy with a clear run at goal. He blew the whistle too quickly there.

Jota was fouled twice before he blew the whistle. If he was expecting advantage he should have delayed the whistle. His decision cost a goal scoring opportunity.

The decision on the penalty was really questionable. Another on Mo Salah that goes unpunished

As I mentioned before , we’ve lost atleast 8 points due to questionable umpiring decisions in our drawn matches.

That doesn’t include questionable decisions in matches we’ve won.
We continue to be the side who keep getting shit decisions.

Agree with everything you say here.
I just changed “umpiring”…that was driving me mad.

He made the same dig after the City game when he said he expects they may upgrade AM role.

I can’t see Arsenal scoring twice at the minute or United.

Much easier than I thought, no Isak was a bonus.
Szoboszlai was absolutely fantastic.
Ref was poor but we were far too good to let him fuck us up.
The fat lady must be getting prepared.

I think she’s finished her sound check.

There was plenty worse than that. People saying we were bottling it etc. Even when posted a reminder that we hadn’t lost a PL game since September, I was told ‘it’s the draws that kill you’

The all seem so happy also. Mo has a beaming smile for most of every game.

The only obstacle I can think of is the length of the contract

Only one assist? Disappointing!

Geez, we are thirteen points in the clear! Let that sink in lads! 13!

(in Pardew manner… )
