Post match: Liverpool v Newcastle (EPL 31/1/26 8pm)

He had every right to go for that ball and I would expect our players to do exactly the same. Yeah its true … I like the lad and shame we didn’t see the potential and hung on to him.

Apart from large parts of the first half and some details in general, this is the most fun I have had watching Liverpool in the league this season.

I am grateful to the team. I voted for Wirtz and Etikike. Konate was also great and maybe I should have added him to my vote.

Good to see some acceleration, speed and goals. Well done lads!
I was a little worried for about the 1st 30 mins. Still a very good win in the end.

Every right and it got a yellow card because it was dangerous.

And it’s constant with him.

The way Wirtz creates space for a pass in those situations is next level stuff.

Weird feints, shifts of body weight, twists and turns. Sometimes he’ll lose balance or get tackled but when it comes off he creates chances when there’s a wall of bodies in front of him.

Such a talented footballer. Get quality players around him and he runs the game.

Honorable mention to Grav today…I thought he was really good as well.

Wirtz and Ekitike have created the most two goal partnerships in the league with 6.

Really enjoyed that despite feeling shit with ManFlu. Exactly what I’ve wanted to see for ages - the team turnover a lead and win a game from behind. We’ve not looked capable of that for a long time.

Wirtz and Ekitike are good enough to dominate this league for years. What a performance from both.

Konate was excellent, and Gravenberch wasn’t far behind.

The only disappoint was Salah, who despite the assist struggled.

Is this the first good performance in the league following a CL good performance? I think so.

I didn’t see that result coming after 30 minutes, but the lads managed to get their act together and scored a few excellent goals. Also, Konate was excellent tonight. I’ve been one his critics this season but fair play to him, to put that performance in after his dad passing was exceptional.

Gordon pissed our boys off so much with the nasty foul on Ali and scored, the boys in red with the fans took it personally.

Wonderful connections and goals. Ibou’s goal and the teammates surrounding him (Ali went all the way to the other end) really hit the heart string. The way it went in was as if his dad, together with the Kop, created the current to bring the ball into the net.

A fabulous win. I didn’t think we would win by this margin. I was expecting a dull draw or a loss to be honest. In the first half, we were terrible and Newcastle were controlling the game.

Wirtz and Ekitike were magnificent. Mo showed flashes of his brilliance and justified his presence on the pitch. Perhaps Mo can do the assist roles for the fab duo of Flo and Hugo.
The highlight for me was Ibou scoring that goal and the sad emotion which went with it. Ibou’s Dad would have been so proud. His mum and siblings would had their spirits lifted for a moment seeing Ibo score the final goal at the end. I loved the way all the lads went up to Ibou and gave him a huge hug. It was a heartfelt gesture which got me abit emotional as well. :smiling_face_with_tear:

This huge result is a huge morale booster. Let’s hope, it stays that way until the end of the season.

Yeah Villa was prior and if I am honest that was a bit ropey first half.

Only saw the 10-15 min if the game but he was playing on the edge again - creating from the the point he wins the ball.

Oftentimes this season he receives the ball in our third and he does his dance around the ball and passes it backwards. He is best when he plays like today, breaking up play and pushing on before the opposition settles.

Great performance, it felt like something we’ve been expecting to see for months now. But still great to see nonetheless.

Pretty much everything from our side was good. Something like 20 set pieces defended, one unlucky goal conceded. Terrific direct play, with a higher and much more intense press wihout us losing focus if sandcastle managed to play through the press.

So many good performances besides the top three obvious ones. Gravenberch, szobo, gakpo, ali etc. Terrific stuff from them. I also liked how Mo after rushing few moments on the wing got into the game better and stopped forcing it. I’ve seen a lot of comments how his legs have gone but definitely he has more to give still.

Our set pieces have really improved lately. Wonder what was going wrong before.

They got rid of the problem by sacking him.
