Is it just the coach or is it also the sporting director whose selection of new players hasn’t worked out? Yes they obviously have talent but perhaps not as much for the fit?

Isak lost in the Forrest ![]()
Its a schoolboy on his laptop when Mums not looking. Wow, I said cunt. Aren’t I cool.
Load of bollox with fuck all substance.
This is revisionism. Klopp struggled the following season because he literally had no fit defenders and he still recovered enough to end up third with Williams and Phillips as his CB pairing.
Slot’s biggest problem is that he’s lost one CB and at times has had two RBs missing.
It’s an insult to suggest that the two situations are comparable or that the fans are fickle. No sane Liverpool fan turned against Klopp then because it’s crystal clear that he wasn’t the problem. Who can confidently say that about Slot now?
Everything things is about Slot and blaming him, yes his tactics don’t inspire confidence and he does pick the players and play players out of position or are off form.
But it seems the players are getting off scott free.
I’m sure Arne doesn’t tell them to capitulate when the opposition score or to not track men and to make feeble tackles.
The players are as much to blame as they aren’t fighting, aren’t thinking for themselves and aren’t giving their all for the shirt and badge.
They need to help Arne to turn this around, as that what teams do.
Remember YNWA
I wasn’t particularly bothered by the drop off after the title was clinched last season. I thought I recalled it happening each previous time we had been champions in my lifetime. A quick check confirmed that it did happen under Shanks, Paisley, Fagan and Kenny.
However for me, despite winning the title, there was an anticlimatic feeling to the final couple of months. The FA Cup loss to Plymouth, then outclassed by PSG and a really poor performance in the League Cup final and a serious drop off in the league.
As a fanbase we didn’t like being told we won the title because other sides dropped off but to be honest there was definitely some truth to that assertion but isn’t that always the case?
This malaise set in around February/March but was glossed over by the title win. No-one thought, me included, that it would carry over to this season. I have no idea why it happened and no idea how we get out of it. How long before we start to hear the dreaded “lost the dressing room” rumours? That always ends in a sacking. There is no recovering from that.
I really hope I am wrong but I can only see this going one way now.
One day we will get a no holds barred account from the likes of VVD. Until then we have to make do with the usual player platitudes about trying harder and working through it.
It’s OK. I heard loads of people say that we only won the league because City had a shit season. In a few months we’ll be able to tell Arsenal fans they only won this one because we did.
Which was exactly my point.
I agree with most of what says. The only thing I take issue with is, the use of Konate and the word ‘exceptional’, in the same sentence.
We were ok for 30 minutes then we ship a set piece goal again, in my opinion the first sacking is our set piece coach. To leave your best chance of scoring on the bench like Ekitike and Chiesa and then pick Konate instead of Gomez was rather ominous. Time to put our efforts on the CL as we might get some decent decisions from the officials.
Can’t stop laughing!
And there will be an element of truth to that too, won’t there?
I was so happy before the season started when we signed a few players but when we failed to sign a CH I was really worried. I hope we address that urgently in January.
Good lad finally bring everybody back to earth and start putting an emphasis on those parts of the lyrics of YNWA.
I hope we’re addressing it now, so whoever it might be, can be signed on the 1st January. I also hope the club have booked Konate a flight to Madrid, or anywhere really, leaving on the same date.
I dont think ive ever seen a manager look so out of his debt as Arne yesterday, painfull to watch and each sub seemed to make things worse.
I’m not sure any league title in the history of football has been won any other way.
You generally have to show you can break 90+, but you also need other clubs who have that potential to fail to do so.
Why wait?
I know a lot of us are talking about Slot getting replaced. Fair points. But I think more questions need to be asked of Hughes and Edwards. Slot’s modus operandi while he was at Feyernood was also to do with heavy pressing and counter pressing. So why have we replaced our best pressers with players who are not used to that system?. Okay, I take the points of Isak having a tumultuous preseason, but even when he played Newcastle he was the one who picked up the pieces once the pressing members of Newcastle won the ball back. Kind of like what Salah does for us now. Even if we bring someone in fir Slot, what guarantee is there that they’ll be able to string things together with this team? it really feels like there are gaps in the squad that need to be filled before we can start producing proper football again.
