Post match: Liverpool v Notts Forest (EPL 22/11/25 3pm)

What does that even mean?

Good point.

I’m curious as to what happen overnight and how many sleepovers are required?

I feel sorry for Virgil having Konate as your partner, about 10 times this season he has played players onside by not staying in line with Virgil, remember Mbeumo goal but the anti Virgil idiots on sky blamed Virgil and yesterday laughing as he was subbed off, a joke of a player.

Fortunately, it’s been raining, here in Liverpool. So I haven’t left the house since yesterday, too many smug Everton supporting neighbours. I know they’ve got nothing to be smug about, but they’re obsessed with Liverpool.

I know we talk about the drop in quality football especially post the CL loss to PSG last season. But that could be attributed to Slot using a small squad and them getting exhausted and not being able to produce the performance of the first half of the season. Slot still doesn’t seem to want to use too many members of the squad and even with options on the bench, if you are not almost the chosen view then you might as well not even turn up so that is definitely something he needs to work on.

I feel sorry for both Virgil and Ibou, having to deal with almost zero help from their midfield. In many cases midfield choices or indecision made things worse.

It’s just so bizarre…We have a 3rd choice and 4th choice RB and Slot elects to use none of them…

So so bizarre from Slot…

Some of our substitutes may as well sit in the main stand, wearing a suit and a shirt and tie. Their chances of getting on the pitch are virtually nil.

Absolute clown of a manager, our two best midfielders playing in the back 4 and we looking to fight back from 2-0 with 2 defenders on the pitch and getting destroyed by a team in the relegation zone.

Where’s this idea coming from that Wirtz wasn’t previously used to pressing (I realise he didn’t play yesterday, but this keeps coming up)? E.g. Alonso’s Leverkusen and the German national team (admittedly with varying degrees of success in the execution) use pressing. One might say he’s maybe not as good at it as maybe a few other players, but he’s absolutely familiar with it and imo more than decent at it. In the end it has to be coordinated as a team effort to work.

Wirtz I would assume, though probably suggests that we should stop with this Dom at right back and if we have to we play Ramsey.

Which is why everybody is asking what’s the plan???

Isak needs to move, like get out from behind an opponent, and make himself available.
Make runs and call for the ball.
Win some 50:50s and headers.
Then our other players need to know he’s on the field and pass, cross, whatever to him.
Gakpo was particularly useless at noticing him. In fact I haven’t a clue what Gakpo was doing with all the space he was finding in the first 20-30 minutes.
A big problem I see is we prefer holding on to the ball rather than playing a dangerous pass forward we pass backwards. Just what the opposition are waiting for to put pressure on our CBs.
Isak remains in the shadows and we are scared of the shadows.

Notice how Szoboszlai and Jones both have the exact same average position. They where swapping over a lot. I found that confusing and I think they both did as well.
We went down the right one hell of a lot, the opposite to what we usually do. Looks desperate to me.

Glad to hear it

In the first half when they did that and in a triangle with Salah they caused Forest problems. We just could fashion a clear cut chance.

The number of times the entirety of Anfield groaned at a pass back from a promising position. :man_facepalming:t2:
