He should have been honest. He should have come out and said we have agreed as a club we don’t give a fuck about this cup right now, and we have bigger problems to solve than navigating this tinpot this season. Our decision was to rest most of the first team, and give them a week to get their heads together and work on the plan for Villa. I didn’t want them on the bench, because I know that in the heat of a game I’ll end up using them to try and win the game. Anyone making out this result is a continuation of a crisis situation needs to look at the side I picked, and stop being a fucking bellend.

I think cut the first part as it sounds entitled but yeah the second part about giving the players a chance to focus solely on the weekend was the idea.
I can assume that’s the idea, well I hope anyhow.

I’d be disappointed if they’d gone to Dubai. 
Actually, I’d have preferred not to play Joe Gomez tonight. As he is the only player with a decent long throw, I’d have had him at Kirkby throwing ball after ball at Konayd and Van Dijk all week.

I’ve just got home from the game, soaking wet after walking from the ground to Sandhills station. Not much to say about the game, except the team worked very hard but Palace deserved the win. Chiesa ran himself into the ground to his credit.
I was surprised at the small number of Palace fans
a very poor turnout from them.
Anyway I’m going to have a couple of large malt whiskies before I go to bed. Thank you and goodnight.

We also played back 3 that season to try to emerge from a crisis. Which worked pretty well for the first half hour to be fair.

I think if you go to an early round League cup game you should be aware that you’ll be seeing fringe lads and reserves.
Really ? It was probably the only title we could win and it gave us matching to get in form.
Slot doesn’t change the team much, so would be ideal to get deeper in all cups so that reserves get matching in my view.
The idea that Slot wanted to go out of the cup, is etremely silly to me. Why on earth would he want that ? There is no good reason !

When I read the team sheet…I had doubts but hopes…but then saw the subs bench…and realised we had no plan B…it’s a shame for the young lads…but someone had to come 2nd…I just hope that the first team come out fighting…and put on a show for us…

It’s not as extreme as that but like Plymouth, I don’t really believe he was too bothered either way - the matchday squad is a bit of a giveaway to that, if we get through then cool, if we don’t then it’s still just a league cup game and it was always about the weekend.

We desperatly need these cup games though. The man barely changes his team, unlike Klopp, so when exactly are we going to mix in reserves and match them on a decent level.
If we got deep into the cup, like a semi, then we could even mix in more first team players and seek to win it. It’s only, imo, the only logical way to view it and I think the idea that we “wanted” to get out, is more a comfort pillow and not actually the truth.
Imo, if he wanted to get out of the cup, he should just hand in his resignation, because it would be utterly unprofessional considering our problems and desperate need to match certain players. I am far from Slot out, but if this is really the case, that he wanted to get thrown out and cause even worse morale damage and be totally uninterested in matching players and maybe even get a trophy, then I certainly would be Slot Out. But I don’t believe there is the slighest truth to these allegations myself.
I have to say that I’m stunned that there’s been criticism of the lineup
