You forgot to say that he won us the league with Klopp’s team that would have won it on its own, and that he was lucky everyone else was shit.
You have been reading Bluemoon and Redcafe. Own up now.
You didn’t realize the intention of the post?
I understand there’s some risk by posting it like that, but I assumed if anyone reads this post I wrote, they must have read at least another, to put it in the context of what I’m saying from one post to another…![]()
You didn’t recognise my double irony ![]()
It’s complicated, this posting malarky
Explain how you paying attention thinks that we would win it with City, Arsenal etc still in it, let alone beating Palace with our starting 11 last night before even thinking about City and Arsenal.

Risky team, risky fanbase, huh? Now, what are the chances, you think, that we got a triple irony here, and Flobs has actually taken us to the cleaners.
Another defeat doesn’t look very good, but I can understand his decision to throw that game (and competition) away. There are other problems to solve right now.
I’ll just point out as well, that our reward for beating Palace last night would have been another midweek trip to London, to face Arsenal.
Don’t to have to deal with that? Good.
I guess this is a bit of a sticking point for me. Once the team sheet was out, it was pretty clear that there was very little chance of a positive outcome. I find this a bit irksome for a couple of reasons:
- Momentum is a thing in football - win this one against a PL team (pretty much full strength) and the next game is something to look at in terms of cementing the momentum. Right now we go into the next PL game with added pressure.
- At a minimum the side should have been competitive. We have fielded weakened teams but they were always competitive. This was just an exercise in damage control and I don’t think CP got out of 2nd or 3rd gear.
- I’m not sure what the message is to the young players (and the fringe older ones) is.
Anyway it is just a bunch of lads kicking a ball about and I’ll probably see a bunch of other lads kick a ball about on Saturday at 2000 - well maybe at least up to the result of their first long throw in…
Yeah, the lads need a lot of training to get accustomed to each other and to Slot ideas, whatever they are. Getting out of this competition will get them a bit of that opportunity.
Good thing that Slot’s job doesn’t include winning stuff then.
Imagine having to play Arsenal at London, how would we ever cope.

And lose a game with your starting 11 at Anfield in a game that doesn’t mean much, and that same momentum makes the home game vs Villa look very impossible.
The first team hasn’t played to build any kind of momentum right now. Slot chose to focus on that. I hope it pays off, but I think it was the right decision, whatever happens on Saturday.
I do know two scousers, neither of which have any Manchester connections, who are lifelong City supporters since school days.. Strange
I blame the parents ![]()

I agree in that there is no perfect path from where we are. But form is something that in most cases requires application and match practice. A loss would not have been a bad outcome necessarily - as long as there were signs of a process coming together. The heat of the moment is where teams progress.
Hopefully at Villa we see that. For me it is not a must win but more “are there signs of progress”.

I do think it’s a must win…becomes much harder if we even draw this. I think we need at least 4 points from Villa and City, 3 is not the worst, but 2 or 1 or none are very bad to recover from. For this scenario, if we draw Villa it means we have to beat City away. I’d rather get the win now, and be able to afford a draw at the Emptihad, and a win there would be a welcome bonus, while a loss wouldn’t be the biggest disaster if it comes after a Villa win.

Close losses with good performances is still good enough for me. Sure the knives will come out (more so than now…) but if there is a consistency in the performances, beyond being just rubbish, then there is still reason to believe we can still finish in the top 5 come the end of the season.

People do move now… always found it a little odd that some people don’t frankly.
Anyhow I’m from Formby way.
I think it his only strategy to get out of this mini slump, we have to engineer a way to get our regular starters a breather before the villa/RM/Shitty games. If he wins all three games it would have been more than worth it. We avoid the quarter final and the two legged semis close to the next matches and getting more injuries and not allowing more time for some of the current injuries to heal up.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed the month of October is the only blip we will endure from now on.
Exactly and PSG had more than a week to prepare unlike us 3. We made close to £100M just on the league phase, but I am sure we maybe break even going further in the CC.
I haven’t given up on league either.
