First off, all credit to PSG, who are unquestionably the best side we have faced this season. They’re still oil cheats, but they at least have a very solid team now. Anyway, I hope they get knocked out by Villa.

As for us, it just wasn’t to be. We played well tonight, but that finishing touch just wasn’t there and PSG came up with some vital blocks. Can’t really apportion any blame for this defeat to anyone in red - it just wasn’t our night. Oh, and the ref was a cunt.

Anyway, we’ll just have to vent our frustrations on the Barcodes on Sunday.

Still processing that. Wish they’d put us out of our misery in ordinary time. It was a close-fought contest and it’s hard to begrudge PSG too much.

Parting thought: I love Slot and I love all our boys, but I hope he learns from putting Jones and Nunez high up in pressure cooker penalty shootouts. It immediately felt wrong and so it proved.

Onwards to Wembley.

Well… need some motivation for Slot for next season. Just gutted that finishing first in group stages and being better than all the teams didn’t mean shit in round of 16. Meh.

I was startled to hear that Jones has no penalty record to speak of (presumably in U-whatever play he has). An elimination shootout in the CL is no place for your first penalty.

They were the better team over the two legs and it wouldn’t be a shock if they make it all the way to the final.

A league and cup double will have to do.

Nice that we’ll win the league but a massive rebuild needed. PSG were there for the taking but we just have so many players that aren’t good enough.

Yep. The best penalty takers should have been the first ones to take it. And that includes the confidence to take one. I can’t believe there was no one else to take before Nunez? Van Dijk Gakpo or even Grav might have done better.

They had more shots, more on target, more possession, higher xG.

Tbh, I just think you want players with the right temperament starting you off. Nunez and Jones are both quite highly strung.

Szoboszlai and MacAllister would have taken pens.
Nunez was piss poor from when he came on.
Him taking a pen was a mistake.
