Post match: Liverpool v Qarabag (UCL 28/1/26 8pm)

Happy with the result and clean sheet but sad for Frimpong going out injured. Hopefully not for long.
Happy to see our youngsters getting a few minutes in.

I have just watched his post match and yes he was wound up, which was good to see but he also had some good points.

Basically he is buggered no matter what he says as someone will spin it how they want.

Saw this posted on some social media platform…Ekitike and Gravenberch banters.

I sort of forget that corners are a set-piece, given that we are so bad at them. Another positive sign?

Excellent result after a good performance, but I’m more worried about Frimpong. Repeated hamstring injuries usually indicate an underlying problem. Whatever the cause, the fact is that for the foreseeable future we won’t have a recognized RB to go along with the depleted CB position.

We simply have to strengthen because we are not going to be facing the likes of Qarabag going forward.

What fantastic result
We needed a top result after our abysmal display against Bournemouth last weekend.

Any predictions who will we get in the next round?

Here’s hoping!

Just take it one game at a time is my advice.
It was a good win in an important competition. Six goals in a very dominant performance. Should be a great boost for those who got on the pitch.
We finished third in the league stage. Which after PSV and Galatasaray is quite a feat.

Hopefully, the winner of Gala-Club Brugge rather than the winner of Atletico Madrid- Juventus…Hopefully, we wouldn’t face Atletico Madrid as they have nearly perfected the art of low blocks and dark arts.

Lovely game to watch and nice to have felt confident that our defence and attack worked out well.

Again, though. This takes nothing away from where we are collectively.

Likely it will be top 5 gets a UCL place and we absolutely HAVE to deliver in the league now.

I might be wrong, but I don’t think that’s how it works. I think it’s Juve or Ateleti vs. Brugge or Gala.

It does say on the UEFA site that teams seperated by ‘or’ will be confirmed by a draw.

Yes, the playoff draw is tomorrow, and the draw to see which playoff side gets which top 8 is the end of February.

UEFA love their draws.

I stand corrected. Apparently it’s “Big Zaza”, whatever/whoever that is.

I think you are right…

I apologise for getting it all wrong. One can only hope we meet Club brugge in the RO of 16…

The other three are not too appealing…Gala with their mad atmosphere, Juventus’s who is doing the possession-based game way better than us, and our old enemy, Atletico Madrid who gave us a mighty scare earlier this season.

I wouldn’t mind getting those Buggers next in theUCL.

I think we’re capable of beating any of them over two legs, even Atleti. So long as we don’t fuck up the away game. This season in the CL we’ve done pretty well away, apart Gala and that was only a 1-0 defeat something that could ‘easily’ be outweighed by the home game result.

Brilliant night. I don’t care if it’s ‘only’ Qarabag, the lads did their jobs more than properly, scored good goals and kept the nil at the back. Third in the CL table isn’t something to scoff at.

As we’ve seen after the match at Marseille, it doesn’t mean much in regards to our league form, but at least, Newcastle played yesterday night too, and had to travel to Italy and back. So, fatigue will likely be less an issue against them, contrarily to what happened against Bournemouth.

On the other hand, losing Frimpong again is another nasty blow. We simply can’t catch a break in that regard. :frowning:

Nevermind: fingers crossed, that this time, the lads can take this brilliant form into the PL! :crossed_fingers:
