What way tactically? “Better” could mean anything.
They were a disgrace both the organisation and the police they treated our fans like cattle accuse them of being late but we’re there since 5:30 queuing they are not used to organise big crowds like in the UK they used pepper spray on women and children and the kids who climbed the fences to go in without paying were French total shambles I knew the result wouldn’t be in our favour football wise after such a start and the pre game shenanigans from Mane I didn’t appreciate apparently he is going to Bayern
We have on our hands one of the brightest young stars in all of world football. What a player. On the biggest stage, brightest lights, most prestigious Cup final, in his hometown, young Ibou was one of the 2 best players on the pitch - for either side - start to finish.
Also, the mixup at the end of the the first half leading to the (offside) goal, was not at all on Ibou.
It’s not at all my intent to belabor this point but what could he have done differently? I’ve seen someone say he’s should have clear the ball. Ok, how? With Ali laying at his feet.
Ali’s indecision made that very awkward for Ibou so all he could do in that moment was shield the ball for that split second hoping Ali could pounce on it.
I hope some do realize he couldn’t tap it back to Ali’s hands or it would’ve been a back pass. This is no slate on Ali, mistakes happen we see human, but he has to wear that one, it was all his
So with all of that said, I think he deserves consideration for the job but Joel just also delivered one of his finest seasons of his career. Tough decision that.
With respect, that’s bollocks. We played them off the park but our finishing was poor and their keeper was great.
Without the domestic cups we would be trophyless so glad we won both and it gave some of our squad players games they would not have played otherwise. But next season I would not take the carboa very seriously.
Ibou was magnificent. Hometown, biggest game there is. Just off a poor personal performance he was our best player. Future is sorted.
Hope we sue the stadium and police force also
7 out of 10 comments so far indicate how tired and exhausted our players were today, long season and all that.
I did not see that. I saw a tactical plan a la Greece 2004 with a purpose to not concede and take the 1 serious chance (well they had 2 chances which produced 2 goals, one of which counted).
So proud of the boys and our leaders. Thank you for all the gifts you’ve given us and so looking forward to the adjustments that we’ll see to increase our production when we play against top teams (Citeh, CFC, Spurs and Madrid - all of which managed to get draws and 1 win against us).
Disappointing, will read and write after a kip.
We really didn’t.
I wouldn’t go that far but i’m not sure how Klopp could have set us up differently.
We just didn’t have the legs tonight.
23 attempts to 3 might suggest otherwise, one on target to our 9.
From the off, we squeezed them, dominated the pitch, created better, tested their keeper. There was only going to be one winner. Until you get to Courtois. The difference, period. Madrid also defended very well in their box. Mo got off slow but was brilliant in the second half. Superb shot by Mane in the first half that no keeper should get to. We did enough to win, but the football gods said no. Madrid the team of destiny this year.
excuses excuses…
Some guy from a fan initiative talked on German TV after the game and he said judging by messages he received from the stadium the coverage was very negative/harsh on the Liverpool fans.
Organisation was very poor by UEFA.
He was also in Seville for the EL final and he witnessed similar there + not enough water available for fans on day where it was very hot.
Oh, and we tend to forget what this Madrid club is about. We’ve been spending many years discussing the red and now the blue side of Manchester and how corrupt they both have been, when at the summit. We’ve spent time talking about the London office of the Russian Mafia operation, aka CFC, and how dirty money was used to buy super stars and mercenary “top” managers.
But we forgot to discuss, to start threads, to write blogs about the one corrupt operation that started it all. The “galacticos” who have been recruited since the mid 80’s by the most “successful” club in Europe. The club, the “not so much, team”, the Spanish, conservative, power hungry operation that’s been the true dynasty of UEFA’s and FIFA’s corruption. The club that paved the path that took this game from a genuine sport to a money making “professional” industry, where ruthless business and government officials rule.
Enjoy 14 poor Madrid fans. You’ll never know what it feels like to support a club that’s founded on principles and ethics. Enjoy your superstars and all the trophies you’ve bought. You deserve each other.
You still haven’t said what we should have done different tactically apart saying we should have been “better”.

didnt realise i said we should have done better, happy to be corrected though…
i do remember talking about tactics though and how Italians like a 1-0 win…
Wow, I voted Konate motm, was surprised so many of you thought the same.
The difference was the GK, two, maybe three fantastic saves, and then some weak shots from us where we could of made the keeper work more.
I felt the passing was quite weak especially from Trent and Robbo, corners sucked, zero threat from any corners and free kicks.
I don’t think anyone had a particularly bad game, and nobody had a brilliant game. We handled their threats well, and they handled ours.
My parting note. I feel that RM are our /Jurgen’s nemesis. I can only remember Rafa getting the best of them.
