Post Match: Liverpool v Sheffield Utd (EPL 24/10/20 8pm)

Nice gritty win just like a few last year. Can’t wait to get some crowd back at the games.

After a poor first 40 we were much better 2nd half.
Just Alissons being there takes pressure off fab and Gomez and it shows.
Never a foul let alone pen so no idea how var give that.
Vital 3 points.
Bobby much better. Jotta was excellent as well.

On we go…

Classy and highly intelligent…
Sheffield Utd play Man Cheatah next… So he boosting their confidence and telling them what they must do… :0)

The anger generated by our Everton and this game through VAR might just power us to the PL trophy again this year. Funny thing is why we never have this level of VAR controversy in the CL.

Just gone back over the highlights. Their keeper was lucky not to snap something pushing the attempted lob over the bar. Salah’s disallowed goal would have made Henry proud and hearing Mane scream “fucking pass!” at the end was magic.

Has anybody got a video of the Robertson handball?

Rugged 2-1 - kind of what was needed.

United were better than I expected… play like that, and they will climb the table. Good luck to Rhian, hope he storms it and he comes back after his “loan” spell.

Nice to see Jota getting into it. Proper talent there… and Bobby scored too.

Now we can enjoy the remaining games of the weekend. Its a weird season - up for grabs for a number of clubs. I’m pretty sure we will improve, Fab will get better in defence. Gomez has a chance to really shine. Still got Thiago to come back.

Be nice if VVD somehow is back in April, all ready for another trophy lift.

We slag off refs when they get it wrong, but we should also praise them when they are correct, and that was spot on. Where else was his hand going to be?

Lots of good individual performances:

Diogo Jota is a steal even at 45 mil. 2 goals in two Anfield appearances, one of them the winner. 23 years old with more than sufficient technical ability and energy to fit in seamlessly. And the best part is that like Klopp says, he’s only going to get better and better. I just wish he could have got his goals in front of a full Kop.
Robertson is just a machine. Up and down, up down all game, every game. Delivering the goods both in the defence and the attack.
TAA was himself again. That lob was an outrageous piece of technique and awareness. Defended better as well, contributed going forward. Not much more you could ask of him.
Fabinho and Gomez were both solid, especially the latter who didn’t put a foot wrong. Sitting deeper obviously helped as did having Alisson back who is one hell of a safety net.
The front 3 weren’t at their best but Mane got two assists, Salah could and should have scored at least one goal and Firmino finally broke his duck for this season.
The standout player was Henderson. He is at the heart of everything we do as a team. His progression and evolution as a player and a leader under Klopp has been amazing.

Looking past individual performances though, what matters most is that we got 3 points. Winning games as difficult as this coming after a midweek contest is huge. This season’s fixture list is absolutely brutal, especially now that the CL group stage is being held in consecutive weeks; whoever manages this period the best will have a big advantage come May. Finding a way to win when others falter is what defines this team. And coming from behind after another farsical VAR intervention makes it even more special and sweet.

Full disclosure…that vid above is being used on the Caf to fuel the narrative that the fix is in…for us.

Funny how people can look at the same evidence and reach completely opposing conclusions, innit?

Yes well taking into account that these are mancs, their opinion matters for sweet fuck all.

I agree no pen …but I can guarantee that if it was the other end, there would have been howls of anger at that not being given…but I guess that is the hypocrisy of football fans.

Fuming with the VAR decision.
Its obvious that VAR is not the issues but rather the refs who use it are.
How can these c*nt make such an horrendous mistake.
Last 3 games:
Mo’s stone cold penalty against Villa
Pickford red and penalty and then our winner
Today’s penalty.

I really want the FA to come out and explain and then we give them VAR decisions which scums got.

Fair play my ass, I so wanted us to walk off the pitch yesterday in protest even if it cost us 3 points.

One of the worst and corrupt refs in the game are in the EPL.

Especially blueshite and Mancs.

Hypocrisy? Substitute passion and I will agree with you. But we both agree it wasnt a penalty.

On TIA we had a heated thread on Bias, Conspiracy etc that became quite polarised and difficult.
I know.
I was one of the protagonists.

Not going to start similar here, but I have been saying and thinking for a while that the LiVARpool joke would bite us on the arse at some point. The last two games have reinforced my belief.

We can point to the Robbo ‘handball’ yesterday, which was a real shout for a pen. Maybe it would have been given if the Fabinho one was correctly ruled out?

But as @jaffod pointed out Mane was fouled in the box and no review.

No conspiracy, but the last two or three games major decisions that could effect our season went against us. Bias. Thats the word.

If VAR didn’t check for a pen(as reported) then why did the big screen say it was checking for possible pen…they only checked if it was a foul, pictures have emerged that the incident was outside the box and Fab won the ball. This is getting rather tedious now, its obvious the itinerary of the season.
