Endo rubbish???

We are through, which is the main objective.

Ekitike silly. We are in very good hands with Slot at the helm, seems like he has handled it very well. No need to over punish Ekitike, but course correction is required and he is getting it from a straight talking, and unimpressed Dutchman. It feels like the right medicine, and hopefully he will respond in the best way.

Chiesa was excellent. Top pro. Quality for days, but he looks a bit sharper, maybe even a bit more pace is coming back than I’ve noticed since he signed. He should get more minutes, and seeing that display tonight made me all the more gutted for the fella that we couldn’t squeeze him into the CL squad.

Gomez was rusty. Defensively fine, strong, fast, all that is there, but the main concern was his passing was off. It almost felt like he was trying to catch the eye with some lower percentage passes, when steadier might have been the way to go as he works his way back into playing the full game.

Leoni looked very promising indeed. Fingers crossed it’s not a really bad one, and it’s only a couple of weeks or so. Hard to say. I’m repeating this point but we should have a look at that astroturf strip around the perimeter. There must be a way to make it a bit softer, less slick, and also to mitigate against the seam, which seemed to add to Leoni’s fall. With the money and brains we have at the club I wonder if that can be improved.

Lovely to see Isak score. First time hit, curled it behind the goalie inside the near post. Very easy to miss that, and lots of strikers would have taken a touch to steady themselves, so it was a great sign that he tucked it away and made it look so easy. I loved the sprints the sports scientists had him do at half time too. They will want to see their markers met as he continues his rise to full match fitness.

What a glorious first touch.

Endo rubbish? Yeah I thought so. Lots of misplaced passes, getting caught in possession and chasing shadows. Not his best night.
As always he was giving 100% but it just wasn’t happening for him.
He is an all action high intensity midfielder who turns 33 this season. Maybe his time over ?

Damn, that one of the best/worst dressing downs Ive heard.

We weren’t up to pace. Should have expected that. Even so Southampton ran out of steam and we dominated. Took the lead. Let them back in. Got a fairly late goal and won. I’m starting to get used to it, still hurts as we are better than that but football will be football.
Good effort all round including from Southampton.
Our Italians looked good :+1:t2:.
Was just really good to give the hardly used a run out and win.

I know we should just expect it from PL players, but god I love Chiesa’s touch for the second. So. Fucking. Clean.

That’s really all I can talk about in terms of this game as I missed most of it. Turned it on, 2 mins later Hugo scored, then got sent off. Then Hugo’s teammates got the team over the line despite his stupidity.

Those negatives (especially the middle two) massively outweighing the positives. Oh well!

The standards are so high now, given the team we have become, that Endo will need to be at his best to feature, even in limited amounts. There’s a fair chance that Bajcetic might edge ahead of him in the pecking order this season, if he can show what he can do post injury. And if not, we will probably buy another midfielder - Wharton/Anderson/Stiller, someone like that, who can comfortably play their part in the set up we have.

Still, while Endo is here, I hope he can bounce back and show us better next time, perhaps as we close out a Prem game or something like that. He has it in his locker but tonight wasn’t his best, we could all see that.

I thought he was our best midfielder, after the 1st half, he was everywhere and won everything.

Baleba would ge a great partner for Grav, possibly better than all those IMO, I do like Wharton, but too many hamstring injuries atm

Yep, good shout, Baleba too. He should definitely be under consideration.

I don’t know if the club still has another 80m GBP stashed someowhere?

Yeah, the money gets silly, and Brighton would want a ridiculous sum.

I’m hoping Bajcetic can prove his worth, and in relation to some others, there might be a lot more value in Stiller.

How bad is Leoni’s injury? Any update on that?

Wee might need to go for Guehi in January. 3 CB’s is cutting it very fine.

Ekitike should learn from this. Hopefully the mistake won’t be repeated. I do think that his first yellow looked very harsh. We do have options for Palace if Isak isn’t able to see the entire match. From Gakpo/Chiesa playing in the middle. Or a bit more left field with only playing 2 attackers upfront in Isak and Salah. Not too worried about that.

Gomez almost always looks rusty the first match he gets. And then keeps getting better (Till the inevitable injury). Hope Leoni’s injury isn’t that bad and our existing three hold out till January (When we accelerate the Guehi purchase).

Bajcetic and Luke Chambers should hopefully be returning from injuries soon. So there’s some options there hopefully, Atleast till January. Bajcetic should be getting minutes either in CDM or as a back up CB, not so sure about Chambers.

After the match, it felt such a damp squib with Little Lion stretchered off and Eikitike had a brain fart.

Hope that Lioni just tweaked the back muscle with the fall and nothing serious.

someone posted this on the official LFC page. I assume the black straps mean it’s a knee injury :frowning:. Better not be acl :folded_hands:

Doesn’t look pretty.

You think Wharton will be any cheaper?

We’d have to sell before we can buy. It would probably have to be Macca
