Enjoyed that! The youngsters get my vote. Dom was awful but gets a vote for that wonder strike!

I’d like to see Nyoni starting. Play Dom further forward and let him do his thing

Well that was fun. I’ve voted for our young lads as MotM because it’s their chance to shine, and I think they did. Koumas, in particular, is like a Jack Russell ripping into a rats nest.

Oh, yes, and Dom. I was shouting for him to wake up, and then he belts a worldie in front of the Kop.

Feel dirty not giving a vote to Mama, but Trey and Kerkez were excellent.

The other vote was for Koumas, he made our press work.

On the press, our normal starters need to see the effort put in by our team, especially the 1st 20 mins of the 2nd half and need to replicate it, because done properly it works.

I think another game that really should have showed Iraola a thing or two about our players and set up, especially midfield.

Good result, pleased with the young lads and the back five (Gakpo was fine too). Thought Mac led very well.

For me, Iraola has a big decision to make whether he wants Wirtz or Szobo in that midfield.

Just some immediate random comments;

  • Gave the vote to Mama. Some incredible saves
  • jury still out on Frimpong and Kerkez but to be fair they offer energy and speed
  • I like the big Uruguayan and Koumas
  • Good subs by Andoni bringing on heavyweights late
  • Gakpo seems to be quicker, more confident, positive and dangerous. New coach? Fully fit? Competition?
  • we executed which was nice but Spurs botched a few
  • Speaking of nice - no VAR
  • Ali starting to look like Geezer Butler

And Cup games are always the best to watch.

A lot of us were keen to see Nyoni and he didn’t let us down, plays an unassuming role but holds the hole in midfield very well and doesn’t over commit to get beaten and run past.

He is also very easy on the eye in possession and plays it simple, his role isn’t about him it is about what he brings to the team, which for me is control, which we had after the 1st 10 to 15 minutes and until he went off.

Great cameo of what he can bring to the team.

So many options for MOTM, honestly don’t think anyone had a below decent game tonight.

The game was thoroughly enjoyable. High press was well syncronised, orchestrated by the young lads. Absolutely no doubts about Nyoni either on or off the ball.
