That ball should’ve knocked Hojbjerg into next week…just to show him what an injury was…
Thought Robbo, Salah and Mane all looked shattered today. The insane demands are catching up with our squad
thank God we back to one game a week now right or am i wrong??
I felt totally destroyed emotionally after watching this game. Sure getting a point is better then none, but, we could and should have done better. Why is it we hardly ever have a fast break we can use? The Spurs consistently had five in the penalty box area blocking anything we tried. Salah looked horrible along with Mane today. Diaz was the only one to show some spunk and pulled our chestnuts out of the fire, thankfully. Oh well, we shall see what pans out. I’m hoping we will bring home two more trophies. That’d be nice but if not that’s okay. I still love my REDS.
I’m pretty sure we play Aston villa on Tuesday
I was with friends and couldn’t watch, so just read some comments. The result is usually what I would call quite good, unfortunately now it is probably not enough. I think it is probably over now, but you never know, if City goes on a defeat, it’s open. Small miracles sometimes happen and hope is not over even though I have a hard time believing. You never know !
We are favourites for the Fa cup and also favourites for the CL.
damn…
Well drilled in their 4th from last game of the season. If they’d have been that “well drilled” and energetic in the earlier part of the season they’d be challenging for a quadruple.
I’m not having a go at you @RedOverTheWater I’m just saying that our boys have played a lot more “clutch” (as the kids like to say) footy this season and it takes a toll.
Again from your post I know your not criticising our boys. I’m just being a bit protective of them tonight.
We’re all disappointed and are maybe looking for a reason where we could have done better. But one thing I can take to bed with me tonight is that not one player gave less than 100% tonight and Jürgen will already be working on a plan to win the next 3 league games.
COYR YNWA
When I think of the magnitude of that, it boggles my brain.
Nope not till week leading up to Champions league final. Villa Tuesday, FA cup final on the Saturday Southampton on the following Tuesday Wolves last game on the season on the Sunday then Madrid following Saturday.
6 draws against 3 of the other 4 top 5 sides is what will cost us this league.
Disappointing result but theres still a lot to play for so i am not overly pissed
geez, no rest for the weary
They’ll have from late May until early July to rest.
I want our team photo for next year to be the boys all perfectly tanned and bare topped (ooooooh matron) exept for 4 round patches on their chests, from wearing their quadruple medals while they soaked up the sun.
I’m sorry, but assuming we reach 92 points this season, the only thing that will have “cost us the league” is City just being slightly better. Our Reds are insanely good and have been especially fantastic since the turn of the year. No more of this moping shite please, still plenty to play for.
Imagine him under Klopp
If City don’t drop points tomorrow, I’ll be happy with Klopp resting players for the fa cup and ucl.
With the exception of Diaz, the boys looked tired.
We looked good in possession most of the match, just didn’t have that extra acceleration when it was needed.
Defensively though we were poor. We didn’t pick up their players on their counters and gave Kane too much room. I know I sound like a broken record but this Salah-Trent-Henderson triangle where Hendo goes wide and Trent slips inside is not working defensively. Trent gets caught too far forward too often and Hendo isn’t where he’s effective. It means they have to be extremely careful of their decissions when in possession and they just aren’t (particularly Salah and Trent). Hendo actually can appear very dangerous when we are in possession that side. In fact the commentators noted when Hendo got subbed that he was the only player creating danger in the second half yet he was the player hooked.
Spurs did one on us and it hurt, they shut us out whilst they were fresh enough and caught us on all their counters as our defense of 2 weren’t getting the tracking back needed from anyone. VVD should be saying more and I think this is a big problem he is great at organising himself and his partner but when it comes to instructing others he’s not capable. It’s seen when he’s captain as well just not up to it unfortuneately.
I agree Flobs. I think that with Salah really off the pace at the moment we need to consider resting/dropping him for Tuesday and working on a ‘plan B’: if Bobby isn’t back then Jota through the middle with Mane on right and Dias left. Don’t want to be going into Paris and having to play an out of form Salah stinking up the right and everything having to go through Trent pushing forward while Madrid get lots of space for Rodrygo and Vinicius. Hopefully Mo will have his Jo back before then but if not we need an alternative and can’t afford to start him v Real if he’s not back in form. I expect they will setup like Spurs but will be more deadly in attack.
Does slightly annoy me that Salah seems to start every game but he has been off now for weeks.
I know he wants the golden boot but a game off now and then would probably help him.
To be honest it’s the first time we’ve looked tired, last few weeks we seemed to have tonnes of energy but as that game went on you could see what Villarreal had done. I’d make 4-5 changes for the Villa game solely to try and get some energy in it having Matip and Keita fresh should help.
Anyhow here is a strange stat… there wasn’t a single offside given in that game. Odd
