Christ lads.
And now you are going to believe us WE are going to win the league.
Never in doubt.
We absolutely dominated most of the first half but, as is so often the case, didn’t convert that dominance into a game-winning lead. West Ham rallied towards the end of the first period and had plenty of the ball in the second half - Ali had to make a couple of good saves, but that’s his job.
The equaliser came from a complete mix-up between Virg and Robbo, but the captain redeemed himself with his late header to give us the three points.
I cannot stand the way any victory that isn’t 5-0 is labelled “undeserved”. We were the better side for most of the game and, if we had a proper number 9, would probably have been out of sight at half time - Jota was woeful in the first half.
Anyway, two more wins and the title is ours. Nearly there now.
Phew, we reaaaaally need that summer break. Elliott and Chiesa again nowhere to be seen.
We’re gonna win the league. Fuck everyone, and everything, else
Never in doubt.
Is it possible to give all 3 votes to 1 player?
The lack of time for cheisa and harvey is something else.
Gakpo and jota offering nothing.
It seemed to be a tactical decision to sit off and allow them to come forward but the execution was absolutely shocking. Midfield completely disappeared and the frontline passively just allowed West Ham players to go past them.
Even after we scored again, Diaz personaified that terrible pressing when he had Paqueta boxed in his own defensive third. Paqueta then just turns infield a bit and Diaz stops and lets him drift past him. Then he did it again in our defensive third and Fullkrug hit the bar.
Just about getting the result at this stage but I expect us to be much more mature in our game management than today showed.
Did that the hard way in the second half.
Who cares now…we won!
We rode our luck 2nd half but as always champions find a way to win.
West ham are 17th.
And we’re first. What’s your point?
Mo outstanding first half and invisible second. So much energy from midfield first and knackered second half. We are definitely doing it the hard way. We didn’t get much luck throughout the game but they can be so frustrating.
At this point in the season results are all that matter. We could have let heads drop with that equaliser but we got it done.
Would be very nice to put two or three past these teams whilst we’re on top but you get the sense there’s a weird blend of nerves, complacency and mental tiredness running through the team. It’s so close and the gap so big but the team know they aren’t playing great. I guess in one way it’s more exciting than last time when we were so far ahead but the stands were empty, it just felt a bit like a walk to the title.
Hope Leicester don’t sack van Horseface before next week as it’s completely toxic there right now. Put’s us in with a chance of doing it at home in front of all those fans that missed out last time.
What is clear is we need more options to put pressure on those starters and to have game changers off the bench.
