For me it is the application and when to apply it that is so inconsistent, we have had travesties that aren’t looked at that really pisses me off, I really hate VAR it is fooooking the game for me.
I have such a mancrush on Jota. I know, I think it was @Nobluff that claimed him already but I’m in line! It’s absolutely unbelievable the energy he’s brought and the breath of life he’s breathed into our side when we need it most. What a signing, what a player!
EDIT: and I could not be happier for Shaqs. The assist on Jota’s goal was outrageous. And he sparked the entire attack that culminated with the disallowed goal. He’s been a man possessed and I’m thrilled he didn’t get sold this last window. Time for him to remind the footballing world what’s in those boots.
I just don’t see the added value in a system that will call back a goal because of the hang of an irrelevant shirt, and let Pickford get away scotfree with a brutal foul on VvD.
Yes but if he is not playing the ball and just looking to impede Mane and the contact is created by Ogbonna, not Mane. For me he left the ball to play the man and therefore not a foul, I also thought this is what caused Mane to collide with their keeper.
Jones the biggest disappointment for me. Real chance to grab a spot and show your class. I have or had high hopes of him but did not impress.
Shaq technique and forward intent excellent.
Jota for me , the result for me was never in doubt… Nat Phillips gave a damn near impeccable performance though
they know they can get away with the most horrendous ‘error’ as an even more horrendous error will take it’s place in the next match shown on TV.
I wonder what it would be like if the matches weren’t on TV they would be able to have an even greater field day. It would certainly silence radio commentators (what would they be able to revise).
Just cannot see how Gomez played an awful game, just bewildered by this thought no one wins 100% aerial duels and against a taller player!!!
Klopp on their goal only talked about their player being free on the edge of the area, no blame on Gomez or comment on the header.
Mane came through the back of him - not sure if you have access to the replay, but it looks like Mane is actually trying to lunge and play the ball in between Ogbonna’s legs, or is reading the bounce expecting it to get over Ogbonna’s right leg.
Mane’s leg turns to the right, toward Fabianski, under Ogbonna’s weight, I think he was trying to play the ball in front of Fabianski.
Henderson was excellent, Jones was ok but Mia at times.
Who’s Mia?
Hendo was good, Jones ok and Wijnaldum poop!
Think Vietnam and try to keep up
Missing in action.
All’s well that ends well.
But we were very harshly done by with the first Jota goal being chalked off.
Procedurally we need to see the workings. Mic up the ref like the NFL, or have a ref official tell us What the decision is and why.
The problem is they don’t want to do that. VAR was brought in to give better precision, but unfortunately it is still as subjective as ever, and human error is very present. Improve the application of VAR, or let’s just go back to the ref and the linos calling the game live. And do away with the late flag nonsense, and so on.
Really that’s even worst!
Seen it several times and he is going for the ball and Ogbanna leaves the ball to play Mane to prevent him getting to the ball, but as said that is my opinion and I have done it myself heaps of times and gotten away with it, knowing that most times refs will give it the other way, when it is actually me creating the contact.
So according to Souness it was probably a foul on Salah, but not a penalty.
Work that one out.
