An easy win against a good side.

If the league were a level playing field, we’d walk it.

3 points, clean sheet, goal from a midfielder, controlled the whole game, and no need to talk about the ref.

Curtis slotted in well on the left of midfield. Andy played as the left sided centre back and then Curtis covered the left back position when Andy went forward.

A midfield of Curtis, Mac Al, and Szoboszlai allows for us to play out from the back and keep hold of the ball.

Joe Gomez filled in for VVD, and then also looked comfortable switching to RB late on.

Must be terrifying to face a front line of Diaz, Nuñez and Mo. Even more pace than Mane, Firmino and Mo. Marauding Nuñez is too much fun to watch.

Lovely to see how different this game was to the one we played against them at the end of last season.

That day their midfield completely outclassed ours, today ours absolutely mauled them.

Fantastic performance. Beautiful game of football to watch. I loved how much more intelligent we were both in and out of possession. No more counterpressing when the situation wasn’t right; No more dangerous passes trying to force the issue. Nous and patience throughout 90 minutes after a very long time. Long may it continue.

TAA was masterful. First start as captain and he put in a clinic passing the ball, hopefully he hasn’t got anything serious. The midfield bossed Villa’s all game long. Sloboszlai with an exquisite finish with his left. Mac Allister was almost perfect as a 6. Jones looked rusty but still had some good moments. Salah got a goal and should have got an assist. Nunez was a menace throughout, also got an assist and how he didn’t score is a mystery. Diaz was less pronounced but still put in his fair share of work.

Most of all though, it was Matip and Gomez that made a difference. What a performance by both of them, Gomez especially.

All in all, what looked like a tricky fixture couldn’t have gone much better. With Gravenberch still to come in as well as Endo, the only way is up. The cheating oil fucks better start watching their back.

P.S. Anyone noticed how Diaby almost broke Elliott’s leg around the 75th minute mark with a wild studs up challenge? But apparently, since he didn’t fully catch Elliott, that’s ok according to the useless cunt in charge of the game.

Didn’t see it but sounds like we played well and it was comfortable as could be against a good side.

Only concern is Trent.

Note to Chelsea. A club doesn’t need to import new players by the dozen to improve.

TAA showed his repertoire of long-range passing today. It’s almost like he was competing in a skills game and the objective was to show how outlandish and accurate his passing could be.
Szobo’s inevitable first goal came today and it was exactly how one would expect his debut goal to look like.
Another massive save from Alisson when the game was still in the balance. What would we do without this guy?
Only downside was our captain on the day limping off. I hope he’s fine and that would cap off a great day at the office. YNWA!

Given that it wasn’t our first choice, I thought the defence held out OK. Having a competent midfield probably helps.

Dominik Szoboszlai is a terrific/terrifying player depending on whose side you are on. He had a couple of sloppy passes but basically my MotM.

Trent and Jonesey got my other votes as I thought they both had a good game and I’m sick of Twitter wankers slagging off the local lads.

Also credit to two defenders who can’t defend

The defenders were really neat, and though none of them are defensive midfielders, the midfield shielded the backline well too. Oh, Nunez is a maniac.

Nunez is the name.
Football is the game.
Winning is the aim.

Good ebening Aston Villa.

Oh and Szobo is class.

This is kind what I see was the idea.

Klopp wants energy in that field so they don’t just waltz through. I think that’s the major difference I’ve seen so far (though couldn’t comment here).
