Post Match | Liverpool vs Aston Villa | PL | Saturday September 3rd

Good to hear the clubs position seems to remain held on Salah.

Wait and see on Trent I guess.

And naturally more direct as well…heading straight towards goal at pace!

Almost quarterback-like?

Great performances all over the pitch. The subs all looked decent when they came on too. Great to get our first clean sheet of the season as well. Dom looks like he’s played in this team for a few seasons rather than a few games. :+1::nerd_face:

I think a big difference for this game was Robbo’s form. He’s been alright but he didn’t put a foot wrong today and I thought it just shut down everything Villa were trying on their right side.

Szobo was once again magnificent and Darwin was a chaos agent as usual.

Trent had one pass that nearly went as wrong as the ones in the past couple of games but thankfully it made it through to Alisson. Other than that, he was transcendent. Hope he’s alright; not much cover for him long term.

Gomez a 103 successful passes from 108 attempts.

Bloody Beglin was going on about Darwin’s wastefulness, failing to note that he had two assists.

Beglin is one of those old school pundits who believe goals are the be all of end all.

yeah, that annoyed me too. Nunez had another good game.

Didn’t see enough of the match but from the bits I caught, it looked like we won without really trying too hard.

I like Mac, he adds a little spice to the midfield that has been lacking.

How did Jones do? Hopefully he can kick on from here.

I did wonder how good they were considering it’s hard to judge a team that smashes Everton and Burnley.

I think the accurate assessment would be that we didn’t need to go beyond 2nd gear. We just knocked the ball round and probed when there was a good opportunity. We really didn’t have to try.

Even then, we could have scored 5 or more.

I just read Trent’s injury was a hamstring. Anyone know anything more ?

Edit: Awaiting a scan apparently , hopefully nothing too serious.

I thought it looked like he rolled an ankle, when no one was near him just before his run from midfield and shot

EDIT; Jurgen says it was a Hamstring

Hopefully he wont be on duty for his national team. If VVD is back after the international break then Gomez can at least provide cover if the injury is protracted.

Great team performance w ehave a team in possession that can play at a variety of paces.

Big shout out to our defenece especially the CB’s who I thought kept Watkins the quietest I have ever seen him, he normally causes our defence problems, Joe was excellent in and out of possession.

One other thing the ref had an excellent 1st half, but must have got a message from Webb, because he gave several phantom freekicks to Villa the 2nd half
