Post match: Man City v Liverpool (EPL 1/4/23 12.30pm)

Due to iinnjjuurriieess.

@rab I agree we could have signed a midfielder, but spent the money elsewhere.

I think Klopp made a minor miscalculation, as the drop off from last season has been much greater than might have reasonably been anticipated, and we have had far too many players not really offering much at all.

I expect a bit of a clear out this summer in the midfield department, going beyond contract expirations. My guess is not all three of Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho will be with us next season, but I doubt all three will be moved on.

I think we will rebuild the engine room and I canā€™t decide between two and three additions. Probably three, but one will be low priced or Bosman.

Hopefully the budget extends to a new central defender too, but the midfield needs sorting first.

I see what you/he means. Not full as in canā€™t register anyone, full as in we have what we need and more would be excessive.

Got to wonder how rubbish Melo is if you cant get on when 4-1 down and you see 67 year old James Milner still coming before you.

Wanna hear the funny part?

That 83 year old James Milner should be the first midfielder named on the team sheet.

If weā€™re honest with ourselves itā€™s been 3-4 years of poor planning in the window, inactivity has destroyed this team thatā€™s become unrecognizableā€¦scuppering to conclude last min deals for Kabak (who turned out to be ok tbh) Davies & Melo. Come on LFC.

Since we won the league 4 years ago (so 8 transfer periods) weā€™ve bought in Taki Jota Tsimikas Thiago Diaz Konate Elliott Ramsay Carvalho Nunez & Gakpo. (not gonna bother counting the loans or players like Sepp/Adrian)

Weā€™ve spent a grand total of 150m give or take in those 4 years.

No one is convincing me thatā€™s good enough for a club looking to compete.

Klopp is 1 of a kind but the dude is being given a Fiat Punto to win the Grand Prix.

Players who have no history of injury are fucked when they join us. Itā€™s because the officials let our opponents assault our players with impunity.

I hope they both get knocked out before then.

Works for the Manchester clubs most of the time.

People keep mentioning Milner like he is a problem.

The only problem is the fact he is playing as much as he is and he seems several shades better than most of the squad.

As I said beforeā€¦
Ban any clubs supporters who engage in this stuff from Anfield for next fixture.
Simple solution to a problem that clubs/PL/FA have allowed this to fester.

If the authorities have a problem with banning, tell them to fix it.
Clubs rightly ban homophobic chants and racism. But this just merits a statement?
Fuck off City.

Firstly it is 3 years and 6 windows since we won the league 20/21,21/22 and 22/23.

As the 150m spend its great to see twisting of facts to meet your agenda.

In the 6 windows we have spent roughly 270m but you are going to trot out the much fabled net spend.

But answer me this if you sell your house for 200k then buy another 350k did you not spend 350k on a new house.

Your fallacy lies in the simple fact that you might pay 350k for the house but it doenā€™t cost you 350k for the house.

Just like we may have paid 135 million for VVD and Ali but we didnā€™t actually spend 135 million for VVD and Ali courtesy of a little Brazilian with a bad back.

Obviously gutted but the Bournemouth game hurt me more. We have weaknesses in important positions and sadly have not had the money to improve the quad like City have.
I thought De Bruyne was offside in the build up to their second goal but frankly we got what we deserved.Ref was a bit soft on them but I have seen worse and it is what you expect when you go to City or MU. Top 4 looking further away every game.

Another twisting facts to suit an agenda if the money leaves your account 350k for a house or 135m for players its still money spent. Its irrelevant how you got to the 350k or 135m figure that ammount has still been spent.

Sorry yes 3 seasons ago but Iā€™m also including the summer from the season we won the league so from summer of 19/20 to January just gone is 8 window periods. Net spend and net profit is all that matters in any business and it doesnā€™t ā€œtwistā€ anything, its facts.

Whats ā€œtwistingā€ to suit an agenda is you disregarding a businessā€™s source of income, an income that weā€™re not going to have in a few months so yeah go figure.

Exactly. Tactically itā€™s been a mess this season and of course we should have bought more players but there is still no reason why results and performances should be as bad as this. Main problem for me is the attitude of the players. If the tactics and personnel are so bad then how to explain the difference between the results at home and away? The only teams with more points at home than us this season are City and Arsenal. Yes, weā€™ve been crap but weā€™ve still been able to get results. At Anfield the players are not allowed to feel sorry for themselves but away from home they canā€™t wait to throw the towel in. 12 points from 14 away games is relegation form. Beat United 7-0 at home then follow it up with 3 of the most pathetic, insipid performances away from home that youā€™ll ever see.

Iā€™d sooner sell every one of these players before we got rid of Klopp but there is only one way this ends if things donā€™t turn round and the manager always ultimately carries the can. If Klopp leaves because these players canā€™t be arsed their reputations will forever be tarnished as far as Iā€™m concerned. Loss of form is just part of football but giving up is unacceptable.
