Hope Alisson and Jota are ok, Kelleher should be ok for the next few and we do have options in attack.
Happy with a point, had flashes but itâs always tough. A lot of bluster from them second but couldnât kill it and I knew we would have one or two chances.
Gakpo actually did a good job of breaking up play when he came on. City were trying to build some momentum and heâd kill it with a little niggly foul. The kind of thing Man City do all the time to other teams.
The result notwithstanding, there is little to be happy about. Maybe TAA, who was head and shoulders the best player. Apart from that, their goal was entirely self-inflicted and as usual away from home we lacked aggression and sharpness. Jota and especially Alisson missing for the busiest time of the season is going to hurt too.
Good news is that we still largely matched them at their ground and we are nowhere near our ceiling. We really can go all the way, provided we grow out of the poor habits away from Anfield.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to Match of the Day: "If we had played really well, we could have won. This is a really tough place to come and it is a not a coincidence they have won I donât know how many in a row at home. They are a super team.
"When we had our football moments, we immediately created [chances]. Did we do that often enough? No. Can we play better? Definitely. And we will. But for today, this was a super important experience for the group.
"It has been a tough week for the boys and then coming here to play a game against a team that really makes you suffer is not cool. It is difficult to stay in the game, but we had our moments and I like that a lot.
âIt is a good point and I am absolutely fine with it.â
Yes, he spends the whole game chirping about every fucking thing and shouting at opposition players.
Weird youâd label a Liverpool player a dickhead - especially one of our best players - for the crime of having a go at Pep Guardiola, but you do you.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "Itâs a really good moment. Itâs a tough place to come â itâs no coincidence that they win that many home games. Youâd need more time to prepare for the game properly, especially in these kind of circumstances.
"Weâre still in a process. If weâd played really well today, we could have won â we didnât. We played OK. We caused them problems as well, but our good moments didnât feel that good to us [in the first half]. We had to stretch ourselves again [in the second half]. We adapted our positioning slightly. Unfortunately we lost Diogo [Jota], with Ali weâll have to see.
"I told the boys at half-time, imagine what it would be like if we were playing well. We had to settle a little bit. Putting Trent in a different position defensively, plus Dom [Szoboszlai] and Mo [Salah] closing that gap in the second half gave us much more stability. From there we could play football ourselves.
"We had good moments. I wish we could have had more. For the moment weâre in, we should take the point as a success. I have nothing to complain about there.
âTrent made a difference today. Before we start talking about positioning, I think it helps us having him on the right wing from time to time.â
On Luis Diazâs father being in the away end: âIâm happy for the whole family that everything is fine at the moment. Theyâre all here, itâs cool.â
Really, really disagree with those who say we played sloppily. I thought that was a really solid performance against (probably) the best team in the world. Yes, we gave the ball away a bit needlessly at points, but thatâs not exactly surprising against a pressing machine. A bit of perspective needed from some.
First of all, Ali getting a lot of flak for his distribution. I definitely yelled at him a couple of times, but he also made some vital saves, so it was hardly a write off of a performance.
I thought Trent was superb given he was up against such a ridiculously in form winger in Doku. Matip was solid and had a great game. I think we were a little workmanlike in midfield, but we at least managed to limit them on the counter attack, which was always going to be tricky without a specialist 6.
Nunez perhaps could have taken one of his chances, but they werenât gimmes. He was a handful as ever.
Much positive to take from that I think. It doesnât take a genius to work out that City are still ahead of us when it comes to midfield dominance, playing in transition etc. But weâre on the up again. Comparing this game with last season is like night and day. Weâre so much harder to play against.
Darwin looks as though he went to shake hands with Pep⌠then Darwin started to point over his shoulder⌠maybe something said in Spanish so might be a while before someone states what was said
Perhaps. Nunez was still stupid to respond. If Guardiola had offended him, he shouldâve gone to Klopp and complained. Heâs too easily wound up and doesnât seem to have learned anything since his first game here.
