If i had any clue how to do it I would set up a poll on is the season going as expected.
It’s not so much the result in itself as the really poor performance. Honestly nothing new this season as,
even when winning games we haven’t really played well.
Can’t complain absolut the team selection from Slot but his game management wasn’t great. We clearly wasn’t up for it from the off. That’s on the gaffer.
Individually too many pass angers and mistakes. mama, Virgil and Macca (first half) were ok, the rest were either missing or outright bad.
Wirtz didn’t start against Villa and its our best league performance for a while.
Fuck them both.
A manager from the dutch league who won some things, takes over from klopp, no one tipped him to win the league except a former dutch player ( cant remember who) …big hype surrounding Edwards and Hughes after we won the league with Klopps team and a £10 million transfer…
Fast forward, £450 million on rebuilding the squad to which it can be called arnes team, breaking the British transfer record twice .
We won the transfer window, and thats all we will be winning, honestly think john henry needs to look at Hughes and Edwards and seriously ask questions as spending £241 million on 2 players for one goal between them and that was in the league cup is a fucking disgrace
Oh fuck! We’ve turned into Everton!
There was a lot of murmurings that Slot was upset about the notion it was Klopps team. Did this have a driving factor in the deals done in the summer who knows.
I won’t pretend to be a tactical mastermind, but this isn’t it. Madrid, Frankfurt & maybe Villa aside, the football’s been dreadful.
That’s a strange comment to make.
We’ve been on a bad run, looked to have started to turn it around, and then walked into one at the Etihad. You can lose there however well you are playing.
We’ll see after the international break whether the form was genuinely on the upturn and City was just an unlucky fixture to run into at that time, or whether the flash in the pan was Villa/Madrid.
I do think we’ve had a tough start, fixture wise. But if you look at the next run through to the end of the year
- We have three teams currently in the bottom three
- Two teams who came up last season
- A straightforward CL game against PSV
- five of the nine at home
If we play like we did against United and Brentford, we’ll struggle. But if we play like we did against Villa and Madrid, we should be fine.
My point is you can’t take a defeat at the Etihad as evidence that last two games were a false start, and while I think City are good value for their win and we don’t deserve anything, we can point to the fact that there was good fortune around two of their goals, and the officials - especially the cunt on VAR - we’re a problem. If Van Dijk’s goal stands, as it should, we could talking about grinding out a creditable draw in difficult conditions.
We’ll need to see what happens in the next couple of games to really get a sense of where we are.
Finally, a bit of humour on this miserable day.

We were as poor as we have been for most of this season. New players making no positive improvement to the players we have lost. Dont know why. They all played well for their previous clubs. Maybe we bought too many and we needed a proper gradual transition before letting so many players go.
It’s not all on Arne as the transfer committee must have had more than a brief chat about what they were trying to create with Liverpool V1/Slot. Arne though must shoulder some responsibility for throwing them all into the mix at once.
However we are where we are.
Hoping that things improve but I fear at our best we might just be making it into the top 4. Bit of (an expensive) mess to be fair.
Not sure where we go from here really. I think we will probably carry on with this shit show until the January window. Should we look for an attacking winger in the guise of Suarez, Diaz or Mane? or play it safe and try to convince a decent CB to join us? It seems to me that those are the two positions that we missing the most although in Konate’s case it’s more about him wanting out.
If we don’t sort this then I fear Arne will get the blame. If that happens then I just don’t see us getting a stroke of luck like we did with Jürgen.
I so hope I am wrong and Arne can fix this.
Do you really feel you need to test that?
Why ? I would prefer anyone to win but City. Arsenal’s fan base surely deserves it more !?
Literally the first time I have heard that anywhere.
Source?
It’s really our away form that is the issue. It has been dire all year…home form has stood up pretty well apart from United. Not sure how he fixes that though…
Also no one really knows what would have happened if the goal had stood. These things change games.
Anyhow I’m with you I’ll see what happens with the games into December. If we continue to look like we did today and previous to Villa then fair enough I think questions need to be asked about his future.
However I do think it’s probably 3 games in a row with the same side and circumstances and everything.
I think I’ll take a break for the fortnight as you can keep discussing this until the cows come home nothing changes until we see what happens next. I am hopeful signs are coming that we might be getting back somewhere bar today.
They are a horrible shower of deluded vankers who compare arsetata to Mr Jurgen Klopp, klopp won every trophy they won one fa cup and the 2nd place trophy a couple of times. City winning is irelevent they are nothing.
Arsenal for me every time. A proper club with a proud history…can’t begrudge them it after so many 2nd places..
I realise that City is irrelvant is a popular fan position, but it will not be a historical position, I fear.
I think, as long as City’s titles are legal and as long as they are allowed to run the club the way they are, they are relevant. And I don’t want them to have even more success, which in the past, has come much too cheap (here we really agree).
I understand the resentment against Arsenal, but I think that is a more proper club, more worthy of winning and I also think their fans are not blasè when it comes to winning. Deluded wankers or not, they don’t win often, so why not allow them some joy if they deserve it ? I think Arsenal winning would be healthy for the league. City winning, not so much.
