Post match: Man Utd v Liverpool (EPL 13/5/21 8.15pm)

Don’t understand anyone saying or wasn’t a peno. No question he won the ball but it was a Bailly special tackle. Reckless and out of control. He knocked Nat (who is hardly small) over like a bowling pin. Gets the ball and clatters Nat.

Had that been in the opposite box, I’m convinced it would have been given and no VAR check. I’m not a conspiracy guy who believes everyone is out to get us but of that I’m certain.

Taylor is shit. Incompetent.

Bruno is a bitch. I coach football to 10 year olds currently and have coached at different ages. I have 5 children. I have had two knee surgeries from football injuries, broke my wrist in 3 places requiring surgery, again from football. I have broken my collarbone playing football, torn my groin and hamstring playing football. I have never heard screams close to approaching that goofy potato head Bruno let out after Fabinho brushed off his inner foot. Hugely embarrassing.

what happened?

Because they have been coached, trained throughout their footballing life to be in position to track runners and they were the main mistakes in allowing a shot on target by their most dangerous player. I never really have a go at a player when an attempted clearance goes in off them, we have all shanked a pass, mis-controlled a ball, which I accept more than positional play. Also Klopp in his post match mentioned the space and time that Fernandez had.

Players make mistakes, it’s up to their teammates to help out.

When Phillips pissed about with the ball in his own box and got robbed by Cavani, Fabinho didn’t stand around pointing the finger at Phillips, nor did Williams, they both made good blocks to help him out. Phillps could have cleared a relatively simple ball, but didn’t. Not the end of the world but an obvious mistake, I just don’t understand why we’re supposed to pretend otherwise.

I initially thought it was a penalty as I thought his studs were up and contacted Nat after watching the replays there was no contact with Nat by Bailleys studs, so not reckless. If you give a freekick for every challenge where a player wins the ball 1st and then contacts the player with the follow throw, presuming it doesn’t endanger the player, i.e studs up, then the game would be a farce. Always loved a sliding tackle where you took man and ball, Nat did a great one near the end of the game where he won the ball whilst also taking out tin opener gob.

You haven’t seen it?

nah, i had to go to work after half time (3-1 up) and got the last 5 minutes or so in from work (saw Mos goal but not the 3-2)

what happened?

Mane was a sub last night, he came on for the last 15 minutes.
At full time, Klopp, as usual went onto the pitch to congratulate each player. Mane snubbed Klopp, said something and walked away. He was obviously pissed at being dropped for the game but crossed the line with his reaction in my opinion, which I’ve been chastised for on here.

Nah, Bailly comes through Nats leg. We have conceded penalties for less contact.
Anywhere else on the pitch its a free kick.

In simple terms, when a player slides to block a shot and it hits the bottom arm it is not a handball. It can be given it hits his top arm.

Are you a ref?
Two of your posts in a row quoting the rules of the game.

Anyway, your summation of Bailly’s tackle is totally incorrect. It was reckless and caught Phillips, taking his leg from under him.
It should have been a penalty.
The handball was a handball and was 50/50 . But we were never getting it.

I don’t really understand why people are trying to absolve Nat of any blame. He has said himself that he was late reacting to the shot.

But still, it doesn’t matter. We snotted them.

So, when it hits the hand it’s not handball, but when it hits the top of the arm, it is handball? This is not the game I used to play.

Love a man and ball tackle. But he got the ball with his right foot coming head on and it’s his left left / left side of his body that clatter into Nat.

Makes no difference as we scored so soon after, but to me that’s a foul every time.

That would be an exceptionally harsh pen. Bailly can’t make his arm disappear.

Silly me, thinking that the rules are relevant to the conversation.

Literally by definition of the rules, both of those calls in those particular instances Taylor got correct. Sorry it doesn’t fit your narrative. He was shit yesterday, but in those two particular moments he exercised the laws of the game correctly.

Nope
He got the handball correct, though they have been given.
He got the foul on Phillips wrong. No narrative either. Just observation and a knowledge of the game

Rules are indeed relevant. And having watched and played football for many years, I know the rules or laws of the game.
Bailly fouls Phillips. Should be a penalty.
You disagree, so there are people with opposing views.

Sounds good. You can be wrong if you’d like.

Cheers!
